Use the giftcard to buy a DVD or something. I'd say toss out a few extra bucks and get the Rocky anthology. It's $37 at BB right now and I'd say it's worth $50 at least, hence a great deal.
If you're a college student, you can afford to be frugal. Just use the VGA cable until you can buy a DVI cable online for a couple of bucks. Buying a cable at BB is just tossing money down the drain. Worst case: find a friend that is going to BB and have them give you cash for the giftcard (minus 1-2 bucks for their time or something). Then you can afford a DVI cable AND a 6-pack of your favorite beer. It's a win-win situation!
