All of the cards I have seen have a DVI-I connectors. These have both digital and analog VGA signals. The analog pins are only accessible if you use the DVI-I to VGA adapter.
If the DVI port only had digital signals then it would be labeled DVI-D. If you really had a DVI-D port then analog VGA from this port would not be possible,
