If you did all steps right, then try to use good media with slower burning speed. That should help. Good luck!Originally posted by: roamerrMy only issue is a large majority of my backups have some pixelation or pauses.

Sounds like IO issue. If region setting doesn't help, please try to install ASPI and give it a try.Originally posted by: cpars

i just ripped a single layer dvd that was 4,321 MB using DVD Shrink v3.1.4 b0 with nero burning turned off, and it was able to rip the dvd at 6 minutes 54 seconds and it peaked at 11,974 kb/s. so im guessing the problem has been resolved in this new build or by turning the nero burning feature off in the program helped.Originally posted by: Esquire

For me personally, I only pick AC3 5.1. No need to keep both. That way I can keep up the video quality. It really depends on which sound quality you like the best.Originally posted by: Macro2
RE: Reauthoring...Do you guys check AC3-5.1 or DTS-5.1 or both? Been using AC3 only because then able to use less compression. Wondering if I should be using AC3 and DTS or just DTS.
no, 3.1.3 rips slower, but 3.1.4 is in beta right now, and rips faster than 3.1.3 but retains all the same features. check out the link in mrbass's post a few scrolls up.Originally posted by: Macro2
Thanks.
Did someone say 3.1.3 encodes faster than 3.1.2?
i dont include it. i think its mainly just a directors introduction to a commentary track or to extras. i usually just rip the main movie with ac3-5.1 or if it has a DTS-5.1 track, then that one.Originally posted by: Macro2
I notice on some movies there is a AC3 audio file named DIRECTORS COMMENT. Do you need that if you are just backing up the title movie?

I'm using the plextor 708A with dvdshrink (newest beta version) and DvdDecrypter. Both work fine other than my speed when ripping from a dvd is only 2x. Any idea how to improve that??

Hold down the eject button for 3+ seconds before you insert the disc. That will "unlock" the drive's ripping ability for the next inserted disc. As fast as 12x is possible.
that is correct. but also, to avoid future posts, single layer rips at 12x, dual layer at 10x, and ±R/RW at 8x (i believe, not sure if its for both formarts, and not sure if those speeds apply for re-writeable, i think so though)Originally posted by: JameyF
