Hi,
This is the first time I am writing in.
I seem to be having problem with the DVD ROM that I am using.
Its a Sony DVD ROM and there weren't any support site in the SONY site for it.
Therefore after reading all those solution given in this forum I have decided to post it here.

Problem: I am not able to read certain DVDs even though the region should be correct. I bought a region 3 DVD for starwars episode one. Came with 2 DVDs.
The first DVD was played without problem (It was great). But the second DVD couldn't be played.

I had a friend to test it out for me on a DVD player it was fine he said.

I checked the Region setting in WinDVD it did not state anything therefore I clicked on 3 (Asia)

But it still remains the same. Please someone help me.
I purchased Planet of the Apes as well...both DVD couldn't work. They are Dual layers DVDs all of them.

I even disabled the DMA thing following the WinDVD advise. (Running on Win XP)

Thanks for helping me out.

Is it this one?

There is definitely an issue here with this drive. Mine had trouble sometimes as well, but I wrote it off as user error. Meaning, I thought that as I had just upgraded to winxp, maybe I had yet to tweak it correctly.

Funny thing.

Thanks escalade for the article that you have directed me. But the article explains about
how to calibrate DVD players not DVD ROMs. There are no remote control in this matter to be
able to do what is in the article.

Unless I haven't read the write onel.
