The reason read errors are troublesome even though the disc may play fine in a standalone is that you have no way to back up or make another copy of the disc.

As to the question of Yi Jhan or Longten in 50- or 100-spindles...I ordered a spindle of 100. The original shipment was Yi Jhan and the replacement was Longten.

well I'll admit once in an 'emergency' i paid basically about $12 for a pack of 5 dvd-r's from Office Max, it was the cheapest they had.. $12 for 5! $17 for 50 ? hell yeah I'll take even if half the discs are broken in half when i get 'em .. compared to local stores prices here these discs are worth it.

Shopper94519 has a point; you won't be able to make additional backups in the future so its pretty much-lost data if Dvdinfo Pro doesn?t read it back (Hmmm, wouldn?t these disc be great for movie companies to stop piracy  ). Nothing is forever, eventually you would have to back up all the data a few years down the line, and if you plan on keeping that data for your life time then your using the wrong media. These are great for the B rated movies out there or sharing large data?s.
Relying on these discs is similar to keeping documents on a floppy and expect them to read 10 year down the line

I bought a 100 pack show as LONGTEN001s and working fine, burned 10 - 9 showed no errors - 1 showed 34 errors but when I used DVDINFOPro to check the original DVD, it also had 34 errors so you get what you copy. I am burning at 2X even though it gives me a choice of 2 or 4X. Better safe than sorry.

This was using my 1300A burner

Ordered my First batch of these disks!
Have burned 50 disks in 2 days.

My disks have the white star on them
here is the disk info:
Manufacturer Maybe = Longten Tech. Co., Ltd.
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 4.0X (Write)

I have a liteon 811s burner.

No coasters yet!

UPDATE!

2 bad disks. They burned fine, no errors, but it freezes up on my Sony ns325 dvd player.

Thanks for posting INXSible. That's exactly the information I was looking for. The 2500 must do something different when writing to burn marginal areas better. I wasn't too concerned about errors until a '0 error' 1x disc I put in my Toshiba standalone took 10 minutes to muddle through 1 minute of film towards the end.

i grabbed 100 of these. these are "yi jhan" and not longten for me.

they burn at the following speed:
NEC ND2500
nohack firmware - 4x
hacked firmware - 8x
Pioneer DVR107
nohack firmware - 4x
hacked firmware - 8x

they all read fine from my dvd player, ps2, xbox. even when burnt at 8x.
nice deal.

have on coaster, but it might be a CRC error on an image file...:)

You burn 8X with NEC ND-2500 successfully? Herrie's firmware? It seems nobody is having any successful burns at 8X with that firmware......How?

Thanks for the deal OP
I could use some cheap backup disks.

I can't get the coupon code " Monthly10" to work... Is there another code now?

I have a question about these media

I just got a 50 pack and DvDinfropro shows them as "Yi Jang"

I burnt some vid epsidoes on them. about 3 gigs. i used DvDinfopro to test them and i clicked on each file on my bros computer and they were all there.

So is it ok for me to delete the vid files from my comp or should i wait a week or so and check again?

How long will these cheap dvd last with my data before they become corrupt or anything like that?

Thx

You won't need to copy them back to the computer. Your original files will still be there!

Yi Jhan here too (50 pack). First one burnt fine at 4X on Pioneer DVR-105R (actually, a Cendyne OEM flashed to a Pioneer, I think).

I think i worded it wrong.

I was meaning could i get the files from the disc.

Like lets say i burnt a data disc and dvdinfopro showed up 5 errors.

I take the disc to my friends house.

WOuld i be able to get the files from the disc to his comp?

i would believe no since i got errors.

anyway, i got my 50 pack of these and they were also Yi Jang

I have burnt 3 dvds using DvD shrink and Nero 6 with last updates.

I have also burnt 2 data disc.

No errors in nero verify and dvdinfopro. DvD disc work in my JVC, PS2, and my Cyberhome dvd players

For hardware i am using NEC2500a from newegg flashed with Herrie 1.7beta8 firmware.

Ordered a 100 pack, got the Yi Jhan 001. DVDinfopro says the max speed is 4x, but my burner (Optorite DD0201) and Nero report the max speed is 2x. Burned one dvd, no errors. Works perfectly. Only tested one so far but the rest appear physicly to be fine.

I had a 50 pack of Longten 001, burn around 10 disc most of them had read error right at the front. DVDinfo test never pass 25%, 25% is the farest I get. The disc won't work in PS2, Jumps like crazy on my DVD players (Sinsonic, AMS and Panansonic).

I should really do this but I ordered another 100 of these dvd which Yi Jhan 01 (no white star on the disc), hadn't try these yet but after reading the post I think I am RMAing those.

Has anyone tried to use these in an inkjet dvd-printable capable printer like the new Epson R200 or R300 printers? Do they work well with these inkjets? I thought the website said these had a thermal printable surface...not specifically inkjet. Anyone??? PM if you could. Thanks!

Received mine the other day. FYI for those of you thinking of purchasing it, The batch I received were scratched up and had bad dye marks. The last batch I received were flawless, but this batch over 50% of them had problems.
