DVD Decrypter - DEAD?!

DVD Shrink is not next because the maker doesn't even update it. DVD Decryptor was still being updated. Also, say good bye to backing up any new DVDs that come with new methods of encryption.

You realize every new form of DVD protection is broken almost instantly right? Like Sony's ArCOSS - what a laugh. DVD Decryptor isn't even necessary anyways.

Keep this in mind - in order to make the DVD able to be played on set top players released - they can't do too much in the way of new encryption. ArCOSS was a work around, and it didn't last long. If you do too much to DVD encryption, then set top players won't even be able to play them either. Bottom line: New methods of encryption are a joke.

Sad that Decrypter is going the way of the dinosaur...

Someone's gotta know.

Sony! I am now ashamed to own an entertainment center full of their electronics.

It is a sad day; I actually use that software for legitimate reasons.

Me too. The main reason I use it is because kids are hell on the original discs. If a movie is worth buying, it is also worth keeping in pristine condition. If it goes to the sitter's or relatives house, it goes on a DVD+RW only. If I ever get a car DVD player, you can be sure I'll do my best to make sure my originals stay out of the hot car and out of thieves hands.

OMFG :|

Linkage to show it's Sony?

I never liked Sony...now i really don't :frown:

That's why I have a CD-MP3 player in my car. No way in hell would I keep a load of originals in my car. For one thing, it would require lots of disc swapping. And, if the car is broken into, the cost of the damages and theft will go up considerably if a CD collection is included.

I haven't used DVD Decrypter since DVD Shrink came out.
I've needed to - on every disc I've tried, DVD Shrink gives some kind of error part way through. Onc DVD Decrypter had a go at the disc, DVD Shrink did the job just fine.

That's what sucks about all this - I rip DVDs and CDs I own for simple convenience. I don't share the files, and I don't give copies of discs away. I do it so I can take a movie to work and watch it during lunch and breaks without putting the original at risk of damage or theft. I keep MP3s (well, now they're mostly FLAC) on my hard drive so I don't have to constantly go looking for the CDs. (A few of my CDs I haven't seen in well over a year.)

It is just a rumor, that's substantiated by the fact he cracked their latest and greatest copy protection in 72hours and within 24hours he had a bunch of overnighted legal documents from a "large corporation".

I'm sure he can't disclose without a large lawsuit.

DVD Shrink doesn't always work and when it doesn't this program comes in very handy. 😉

Hate to see stuff like this happen. 🙁

We just have to keep creating more of these programs until the RIAA and MPAA are too poor to afford lawyers.

*RIP* DVD Decrypter...one of the best and most useful programs ever made.
