With 3.5.4.0 being the last version, it makes sense for everyone to disable the "check for new versions" feature, as obviously there won"t be any. Of course what I really mean is that you should all stop using the program out of respect for the company?s rights.

Sounds like someone was forced to say that...

When the new Blu-Ray/HD DVD format comes out and gets cracked, there will be a new program that does for them what this did for DVDs. They cannot stop it.

Let's hope it comes out soon

Not for decrypting, but because I wants my HD movies!

Me too. I hope the Criterion Collection re-releases their Director's Cut of RoboCop on the new format.

Doesn't matter. The existing version works fine, no need for any updates anyway. The cat's out of the bag.

And as long as there's P2P and BT, it'll keep circulating

Funny, I just downloaded it for the first time tonight.

And, by the way, DVD Shrink suggests the use of DVD Decrypter for some DVDs.

What DVD's does DVD Shrink suggest? I've not had a problem yet. Just curious

This is sad news. Does this also mean that they'll go after DVD Shrink? :(

Remember when Napster went down? Most everyone thought it was the end of the world. Now, there's a HUGE variety of P2P software available (Lime Wire, WinMX, etc) where you can do the same thing. No matter how smart the MPAA and RIAA ba$tards think they are, there's *ALWAYS* going to be ways to circumvent thier weak tactics and legal actions.

If a human can create it, any human can destroy it.

I primarily use DVD Decrypter for its ISO burning capability. Sorry to see this program die, but as of now, it doesn't need any updates. However, if another scheme like ARcoSS copy protection (which I don't think Shrink can handle) comes about, a new program or update would be necessary.

I think I have the 3 latest versions... from recent Gordian Knot rip packs. It is definitely an awesome tool.

Am I supposed to delete it?

Or do "something" else with it?

think you are supposed to seed it on bit torrent

Fvck that! Put the SOURCE CODE on bit torrent. Let someone else take up where he left off. :)

No worries there since the DVD Shrink author no longer updates the program and now works for Nero. DVD Shrink will not backup newer encryption schemes like DVD Decryptor did anyway since it hasn't been updated in awhile.

So what is the replacement program we should be looking at for now? Does SmartRipper handle the newer schemes?
