I just picked up an LG H22N last week to replace my 'not working properly' Lite-On SHW160P6S. I practically do no burning at all (burned 1 memtest disk in past year), so I can't speak for it's burning capabilities. On the other hand, someone in the house also just got the exact same drive, and burning like crazy with no problems. As a DVD movie player, it works great. Only negative I have is that it's somewhat loud compared to the Lite-On, and it appears to vibrate more. Never have I heard louder case panel vibration when it spins slowly, which goes away if I push down lightly on any panel. Lastly, two of my DVD movies play pretty loud (vibration think they're unbalanced?), so I'm not sure who to blame there; think Lite-on and Samsung have their own anti-vibration tech. Still, most of these problems can probably be blamed by my case (weird panel design/mounting). Speaking for LG's other drives that I have used at my old work place burning quite a few DVD/CDs, there were very few coasters, and they rarely had read issues. LG is probably the only brand I'd trust right now.
On that note, try to avoid Lite-On, their support sucks. My first drive SHW1635 died within 2 months, and scratched a few of my discs (concentric circles...). They sent me an OEM replacement for a retail drive, which did not allow for firmware to be updated thanks to their 'idiot proofing' of firmwares, and as insult to injury, it was the wrong colour (white, I have black case). Then it took 3 months for them to send out a replacement bezel which turned out to be a freaking sticker. On calling for support for the non-updatable firmware (drive wouldn't recognize most of my DVD collection), they stopped responding after I confirmed that it wasn't my fault. Oh, and their support takes about 1 week to reply. Just don't get Lite-On...
