DVD burner problem

Could be lots of things. First thing to do is make sure the IDE channel it's on is set to DMA. After that you might want to check the software. That's where I'd start.
 
You do that in Device Manager, drive, properties. Also, the laser lens may be a bit dirty - cvould be time to run a cleaning disk on it.
