DVD burner problem

What would make a NEC 3550 16x drive go from burning DVD Videos at 16x to burning at 2x. This started today.

The blank DVDs .... you changed brands

No same brand Imation 16x

Could be lots of things. First thing to do is make sure the IDE channel it's on is set to DMA. After that you might want to check the software. That's where I'd start.

How do I change from PIO to DMA. I am using nero 6

You do that in Device Manager, drive, properties. Also, the laser lens may be a bit dirty - cvould be time to run a cleaning disk on it.

check the speed setting in nero. under the extras menu, icon for control drives speed.
