Diablo 2 forced you to save in a town as well, so this is no different.

You can have multiple characters to play with, if you create a char and click new game you can select your existing hero or a new one.

I like the idea of the teleporter but saving the game and then ending up back in town is just dumb. Why not just let you camp and save right where you are. I'd also like to have more than 1 save file, just in case.

Diablo 2 had pretty much no plot. Don't get me wrong, it was a great and addicting game, but starting in town didn't really matter much. The game involved doing the same things over and over and over again all the time. DS2 doesn't seem to be like that, and I'd hope not.
