Dungeon Keeper 2

Was playing Overlord 2 last night and i couldnt help but think of Dungeon Keeper 2 and how insanely awesome the game was.

I would cut off my pinky for someone to make a Dungeon Keeper 3.

Werent they going to make a DK3 and it was abandoned? I remember there being a small DK3 trailer that came with the game or something.

Just want to see how many people remember this game and how cool the fact that when someone won the jackpot in your casino, the entire game (you and enemies alike) stopped while everyone danced to disco inferno.

I had it for about two weeks before my ol' Win 98 machine died. I've tried on three different XP and a Vista machine and have never been able to get it to work again. It was awesome for those two weeks though!

DK2 was really fun.

It was one of those games that inevitably burned itself out on the fun you could have within the constraints of the engine, but it took me many weeks to lose interest.

Being able to expand your dungeon to include more racks, while recruting more fem-demons and raising their whip skills, was truly the bees' knees. I shall fondly remember this game for years. I still have the disks, but it'll probably take a bit of effort to get them to run on a more current machine.

Thanks for the memories,
Dick Cheney

I played it again myself not too long ago. Still endless fun.

The fact it you could control one of your minions and turn it into a squad-based fps practically was ahead of its time for the type of game. Nobody has yet to do it again.

Perhaps someday a DK3 will come out. Honestly surprised nobody has done this yet. I'm sure it would sell a lot of copies if done right. Hell.. doesnt even need to be done right. Just update the graphics, add a couple new features and i'd definitely buy it.

I loved how DK2 took note of the PC's clock.

Midnight. . . "The imps are locking up for the night. . . "

1am . . . "The imps are locking up for the night. . ."

2am . . . "Your nocturnal perseverance has earned you this gameplay tip. GO TO BED!"

Haha! Yeah i remember that, i kept getting that message when i played, the game was full of nice little touches like that. Creatures dancing to disco inferno in the casino when they won is something else i remember.

If you want to know something interesting about DK3. EA canceled it because they were also involved in publishing Black and White and felt that since you could play as evil in both games they would compete against each other so they decided DK3 would get the axe.

As I have said in many other forums on here in reguards to this game it is one of the best games of all time in my opinion. Especially when LAN parties are done. If they ever made DK3 I think it would be sold out everywhere for the first 6 months due to the size of the fan base this game has. I really miss it. Not long ago I reinstalled it on win 7 64 bit to replay the game. It's still very fun after all these years.

Yeah, EA bought out awesome bullfrog and buried them. Basic MO from those motherfuckers. Probably better then defiling its memory though I suppose.

I actually just picked up a used copy of this to replace my old one...the damn thing was in my closet while I was moving stuff and slid out of its jewel case, landed on its side shattering the CD into a million pieces. Meanwhile, I think every driver CD loaded with outdated drivers I have is still intact.

I doubt I'll get it to work though, it took a lot of arm twisting to get it working reliably on my x850xt and that card was a lot friendlier to older games then my current hd4850.

Yeah, I had a hard time with my X800 XL as well. Haven't tried it recently though.

All this talk about the absence of dk3... I am now installing evil genius again. Not quite a perfect alternative.. but still pretty damn good.

My thoughts, too.

Wish someone would take the idea onboard and make a new game.

I'm honestly surprised in all these years since DK2 nobody has done anything even remotely like it considering the success DK2 had.

Evil Genius was in the same vein, and was a decent game.

Have you played Evil Genius? It's similar. You carve your base out of a mountain and set traps.. It's pretty fun. I'm playing it again for the third time now. It's not quite what dk3 probably could be but definatly a great game.

Imagine a DK3 with multi-level dungeons instead of just being on a flat plane. You could set traps that make enemies fall into pits and stuff. Man that would be awesome.

Great game.

I re-installed a few years ago but got stuck on the mission where the guy runs away; never did finish the second time.

Maybe I just got lucky the first time through but I didn't remember it being that hard.

I re-installed DK2 on my box a few months ago and loved it. My big problem was that it wasn't very stable. 🙁
