this does not sound like a pro
My extensive issues with how Nolan mixes his sound aside how he utilized it in the case of Dunkirk to ratchet up the tension and anxiety was extremely effective.

I do like a movie date as well. But Dune, this is the flick that begs for the theatre experience.
Move somewhere civilized?Every fuckin time I go to the movies there’s one asshole talking the whole time and multiple people glowing in the light of their phones. I’ll take my 65” OLED with peasant stereo speakers anytime to avoid that shit.

That's a good point. Why would I leave New England, the only place in this country worth living in, just to go to the movies? Lol.
That's a good point.
I only go to the movies like a couple of times a year, but haven't had that issue much in this area.
People would tell a talker to be quiet.

Probably due to the increased likelihood of getting the shit kicked out of you in NYC.The NYC metro area has a far smaller talker and phone problem than anywhere else I've been, for whatever reason.

You're literally describing my point. Don't fuck with the vibe of a silent viewing experience, and you won't get your ass kicked.NYC doesn't even crack the top 50 most dangerous cities in the US https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/the-most-dangerous-cities-in-america/2/
It's more like New Yorkers are generally like, hey you do your thing, dress how you like, be outrageous, be quiet, whatever, just don't fuck around with the general vibe and all will be good. It's a pretty interesting metropolis.
they brought in a crusty old vet who was at Dunkirk and gave him free tickets. My extensive issues with how Nolan mixes his sound aside how he utilized it in the case of Dunkirk to ratchet up the tension and anxiety was extremely effective.
It's an intangible that isn't just about violence. Of which there is enough. It's tough to explain unless you are there enough because there is no city like it.You're literally describing my point. Don't fuck with the vibe of a silent viewing experience, and you won't get your ass kicked.
I've been there, and (imho) it's about the possible expectation of violence. You know nobody (relatively speaking) is armed, so people are more willing to start shit if the need arises. Because of that, the need rarely arises. It's an intangible that isn't just about violence. Of which there is enough. Either way, I wouldn't start gabbing in a NYC theater.

It's more about living in the most dense city in America, lots of people, they are on top of each other a lot, so respect is given to make it work by most. They are crammed in this ship, and the thought is let's just keep it moving.
When I go see dune at the IMAX at Lincoln center I would have no fear of getting on my phone and getting beat up.
Verbally shamed maybe. But not beat up.
Baltimore I'd be worried about getting beat up.
I was only referring specifically to upsetting many someones' days by talking in a theater. What part of NYC?
No one is looking up from their phone long enough to get their brand new sneakers dirty kicking some strangers ass in most neighborhoods I know of.
The people who tend to start fist fights are the people who tend to talk in the theater.I was only referring specifically to upsetting many someones' days by talking in a theater.
It's good to be looking forward to a great theatrical experience.Going to the newest Alamo location because all the other theaters here in Austin are shit. There is an IMAX conversion at the AMC Barton Creek but that theatre is in such totally deplorable condition that I'll never set foot in it again. The old school IMAX unit at the Bullock Museum doesn't do reserved seating so F that.
