Apparently it doesn't matter, and she should keep mum for fear of making people uncomfortable. Revealing aspects of a character to portray motivations is really just an overused literary device anyway. Deus ex machina is the way to go.

I agree. It's rather unorthodox (although not unheard of) for an author to offer interpretation into their stories/characters. Rather conceited of her, too. ...this stuff doesn't really warrant literary interpretation.

I don't know about the technicalities, but I doubt rodenberry would be involved in technicalities, thus I'd say the problem is that it should have been rick berman or someone else "techie". I once had a weird book about technicalities in star trek written by some guy who probably would know the real inaccuracies.

I have read all of the books and enjoyed them. Certainly they weren't the most imaginative, but they were fun.

With that being said, I never saw a single bit of evidence to suggest that Dumbledore was straight or gay... It sounds to me like Rowlings was pandering to the crowd?

Books are works of art, and as such they obviously enclose all aspects of human life and behaviour. This doesn't mean they are meant to encourage any of those.

A few of the most important books ever written have a pedophile as the main character... so what? We stop studying Thomas Mann or Nabokov in school? How about a good 90% of all Greek philosophy? I guess these people would ban that too.

it's a list of challenged books, not banned books. lots of morons and special interests try to ban books these days, but it's not as easy as it used to be.

Evolution though, that shit needs to go.

Although it matters not, Michael Gambon has already demolished the accurate portrayal of Dumbledore and he will continue to do so in the next two films regardless of sexual ambiguity.

I had suspicions about this after reading the last book, Rowling's description of the Dumbledore-Grindelwald relationship was a little suggestive, although she didn't make it obvious (there was no need to, in my opinion).

A fan asked her an important question, and she didn't lie about it, she told the truth. If this puts an ill taste in the mouth of any dedicated Harry Potter fan, then they never really grasped the true concept of the story. The opinions of those who were never fans in the first place aren't even worth listening to. This news is only important to the fans, I have no patience for anyone else.

I don't know a single person who has given the books a try and has not enjoyed them. Most Harry Potter bashers haven't, at the most, read past the first book. To be honest, most adult readers wouldn't be intrigued by the first and second books, and I cannot blame them for not finding the patience to continue with the series, but I would expect them to hold their tongues in discussions about it.
