Sounds like the attention whore is trying to get more attention. First she rips off Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, then calls them both bigots, then tries to create some post series drama.

when did she call them bigots?

If you're asking for a link, I don't got none.

What a surprise...

Shut up.

I think she's just trying to piss of all the fundies who enjoyed reading the books. ...or maybe just to help them embrace their inner gayness?

10-20-2007.K. Rowling outs Hogwarts character

NEW YORK - Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall.

Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," she spotted a reference in the script to a girl who once was of interest to Dumbledore.

A note was duly passed to director David Yates, revealing the truth about her character.
========================================================

Now it will be interesting to see if Potter is banned in the U.S.

Why would he be straight if he had never had any attraction to a woman, and only to a man, one man at that? Why should he be straight instead of gay?

I always liked to believe Dumbledore was above primitive urges whether gay or straight, this just fucks things up.

Rowling said gay, but again I'm of the belief that she just used the wrong wording. I think Dumbledore loved Grindelwald, but gay (homosexual) as defined directly implies sexual attraction to someone of the same sex. I don't think that's the case here at all.

Somebody's in denial!!

She pretty much says that right at the end of the article I read:

Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason.

To me, I really don't know why she would even bother adding this information. I'm just going to assume that it is as people above theorize, that she just isn't intending it in that way (which to me just sounds like she didn't even bother to read her own crap as she has men loving other men in the books in a non-sexual manner). Next thing we know she'll be saying that Dumbledore is a pedophile since he loved Harry as a boy. Then she'll probably say that Dumbledore was Catholic.

Yes, because we all know the good 'ol US of A disallows any sort of "gayness" to reside in its culture, literature, movies, citizens, art, etc.

Oh wait, you're just trolling again. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

It was in response to a fan-prompted question. Conspiracy theory much?

Lol, way to go there sport.

Also, "I don't got none" isnt correct if your trying to say you don't have one.

Be interesting to see if this changes how I read the books. I was gonna go back and read through them all again, ill have to see if its a little different.

Because, like Iran, we do not have homosexuals in the USA, and we keep it that way. No talk shows hosted by openly gay people, no gay characters in popular TV shows or movies, etc...

Having read all seven books there was nothing in them that made me think he was gay.

There is no mention of any of the professors having husbands or wives, so it is not like everyone else has someone but Dumbledore.

Does this mean McGonagall is a lesbian? How about Sprout, Trelawney or Flitwick?

There is nothing wrong with him being gay, but since there is nothing in the books that directly point to him being gay why bring it up after the books are all finished.

Why not just give an open ended answer?

On the other hand, as a writer myself I understand that you know a LOT about your characters that never make it into a book. So I suppose she is just being true to the character as she imagined him.

Now I want to know at what point she decided to make him gay. Was he gay from the start or did that evolve as time went on.

6 Feet Under
Sin City
Mulholland Dr.
V for Vendetta
Pretty Persuasion
Queer as Folk
Happy Endings
Veronica Mars

These are just films/TV shows I've seen. I'm sure you could search and find many many more.
