Before I get the top 3 complaints, I'll attempt to head them off. One of the optimizations places OSU in #1 and Michigan in #3. The other optimization puts Michigan at #1 and OSU at #3. Both put USC at #2. When I put them in order here, I average the Win Rating and the Score Rating. For all intents, OSU, USC, and Michigan are TIED. They can't really get any closer than they are. Thus, don't come in here and complain about the order of #1, #2, or #3. There is a big chasm below those three teams.

interesting, given how close top 3 are , can you predict/guess where the loser of osu/michigan game will stand after the game.

Also if usc would have been undefeated at this point, would they have been quite a way ahead of osu/mich (given its quite close with their 1 loss)

Wake below Boston College? How's that when we beat them last week and have one less loss?

Also, how is Duke ahead of some teams with 1 win? SOS shouldn't make up for not winning any games.

I suppose USC and Cal will be tied for 1st place in your poll next week, if Cal wins ?

Well I put a game of OSU 28, Michigan 7 and re-ran the program. I just picked a large win to see the full possible effects. The result:

#1 OSU - with a large lead over #2
#2 USC - with a large lead over #3
#3 Michigan - with a moderate lead over #4
#4 Florida - the leads are now small
#5 California
#6 Louisville
#7 Rutgers
#8 LSU
#9 Notre Dame
#10 West Virginia.

Of course, if Michigan wins big, just swap OSU and Michigan in the list above. If the win is small, make all of those leads small.

As much as you may hate it, computers like mine use the whole season and not just one game. A head-to-head matchup is only 1/10th of the picture. Wake played some awful games and earned its place just below Boston College. For example, Wake only beat Duke by 1 point! Heck, 3 win NC State and 1 win North Carolina just about beat Wake. Thus, Wake's rest of their season brought them down.

As for Duke, see the bolded part above. Duke nearly beat Miami too. As for the 1-win teams, their only win was sometimes over 1-AA teams. Are you going to say Duke who nearly beat Wake and Miami deserves to be ranked below a 1-win team that only beat a 1-AA team?

I'm sure you said that in jest, but I just ran a scenario of Cal 28, USC 7. The results:

#1: OSU (nearly tied with #2)
#2: Michigan (Big lead over #3)
#3: Cal (Big lead over #4)
#4: USC (Tied with Florida)
#4: Florida (Moderate leads from now on)
#6: Rutgers
#7: Notre Dame
#8: LSU
#9: West Virginia
#10: Wisconsin

i think this weeks biggest complaint will be OMG louisville ahead of rutgers when louisville lost to rutgers???!!!

im interested to see what happens to the top 3 with a loss...they arent far ahead of the 1 loss teams, who would the top 2 be if, say, notre dame beats usc, florida loses, etc.

wake isn't getting the respect they deserve. although we beat them, we probably shouldn't have. 17-3 in the 4th quarter.

I really do not understand your polls love affair with Cal. They just lost to the 40th ranked team in your poll (I assume they were lower last week) and they are still ranked #5?

You need to figure out what is placing such a heavy bias towards that team and fix it. :p

Syringer's College Football - Week 11, 20006

1. Ohio State
2. Michigan
3. Florida
4. USC
5. Rutgers
6. Arkansas
7. Notre Dame
8. West Virginia
9. Louisville
10. Boise St.

My calculations put Notre Dame well in front of Cal since ND's only loss came against my #2, whereas Cal has lost against an unranked team and were blown out by a much lower ranked team.

Discuss.

lol seriously. I was at the game. that game was bullsh!t. we should be unbeaten

seriously, this ranking is fvcked up. Wake > BC. Wake blows out FSU, BC barely beat them. Wake beat NC State, BC didn't. BC has one more loss. Wake is #1 in the ACC.

And yet they're 22nd?

Louisville is too high. WVU is too low. I'm still not understanding how you get USC ahead of Michigan every week. Oregon is WAYYYY too high.

But an SEC team beat Cal so I am confused at this statement. :p

Yup, and don't forget top teams Cal and USC also lost to unranked teams. Pathetic.

following your original argument (how wvu was the sec champion last year coz they beat georiga), usc is the sec champion too probably (if ark wins out ). :p

A win is a win. A loss is a loss. Teams who have bad days but still pull it out are just as viable.

I don't care who you beat if you have 1 win. You're still better than a team with 0 wins. Duke had their AA chance and got SHUTOUT by Richmond.

I don't think USC deserves 2nd place, but I see them ahead of any one loss team if they win out. Except for maybe Michigan if they lose to OSU. I think the four best teams are OSU, USC, Michgan, and Florida.

What needs to happen is this.
Cal beats USC.
USC beats Notre Dame.
Rutgers beats WVU
Either Florida State beats Florida and Florida beats Arkansas
or LSU beats Arkansas and Arkansas beats Florida.
Michigan beats Ohio State ... big.

Ga Tech wins out including ACC championship (nothing to do with the rest, but I want to see it)

This way Rutgers gets to play for the National Champioship and when they lose big they can't complain in the future if they go undefeated and don't get to go. Also it doesn't really matter who wins, Michigan or Ohio State, I would just prefer to see Michigan win.
Also Arkansas may not need to lose, if Rutgers goes undefeated they may still be higher ranked than a one loss Arkansas that beat LSU and Florida, but it's unlikely that Rutgers would still be higher.

But this is basically what needs to happen for us to see two undefeated teams play in the national championship game.

Well in your scenario of Michigan winning big, I don't think it matters what USC/Cal do as long as Notre Dame beats USC. Human voters aren't going to want to see ND/Mich rematch after the spanking in South Bend, if if ND leads in the computers. Everything else I agree with.

Florida is going down to Arkansas. Also, did you see the Kansas State and Arizona fans rush the field this weekend?
