Now if only employers would require employees to start later in the morning.

No. I graduated from GA Tech in 2002.

(AND had an 8am class EVERY day of my freshman year!)

The result: no more 8 a.m. classes, but plenty starting at 8:30 a.m.

Yeah, since that 30 minutes is essential for a good nights sleep.

I had class at 8am 5 days a week at north campus when I dormed at south campus during my freshman year. THAT was a mistake. My roommate didn't enjoy the 645am alarm either. ;)

The Univ. of Washington has had 8:30s for as long as I've been here, and I've had some 8AMs during the summer (now THOSE suck!). Get over it!

I'm actually willfully choosing 8:30s now (as a senior/5th year), it's a really great way to be able to have free afternoons for, well, sleep, or napping on the quad lawn, or just hanging around campus checking out the wimminz.

Gotta get a job soon, though.

Cheers!

HAHAHA what a fvcking embarassing thing to do for a school. Absolutely pathetic. As a guy who skipped countless 8:30 classes due to lack of sleeping/caring, I can say with certainty that if you can't make your early class you deserve what sh*ty grades you get.

You obviously have something called 'will power' which i lack. I have 9:10s everyday this semester and i still get mad. Although thats the only class i have on wednesday and fridays which is totally awesome.

I'm in class ~6:30 every day, sometimes earlier, until 2pm. But then again I'm in an industry that actually expects employees to perform while at work.

lol I actually skipped this morning's 8:30, my first missed class in three weeks. Also skipping my 11:30, we're watching a movie for no other reason than the instructor doesn't want to teach. Today's my off day for the year.

Saw this the other day. I always at least try for 10am or 9:30am classes. That's a good medium between not too early and not too late.

I tutored at 4PM every Friday for the last two quarters, as well as having meetings alternate Fridays at 5:15. Now THOSE sucked.

I dont see how being sleep deprived makes any employee product regardless of the industry. Well unless you're testing mattresses.

In the article they say the avg student gets 6-7 hours of sleep a night. I thought that was the recommended amount of sleep anyways?

I prefer early classes, because I like to be finished with my classes by noon, so I can have the rest of the day to do other things. Instead of wasting a 1/3 of the day(sleeping in the morning). I get 4-6 hours of sleep. Sometimes more on weekends.

6 hours of sleep is NOT sleep deprived. The article said the avg student gets 6-7 hours of sleep, down a hour and a half, since the '80s.
