LOL at releasing for consoles. Were any console gamers even born when the original Duke Nukem games came out?

(why yes, I am stereotyping.)

In any case... I don't doubt it's going to be released now that some other company is working on it. No idea if it will be any good though.

IMO, even if it is released, it won't be that great of a game. Sure, it'll sell well, primarily because of the disbelieve, curiosity, and nostalgia, but the gaming world already has the likes of GTA 4 and similar games to get their crude and sadistic kicks when needed. They would have to do something REALLY innovative with this game for it to make any sort of landmark aside from "longest development cycle ever."

Made (or rather "completed") by Gearbox Software huh?

Well, there is hope, they are good at making FPS games (well yes, I really liked Blue Shift, Opposing Force and Borderlands), although I won't hold my breath for too long about it, in fact I won't at all, I'll just wait and see, I'd expect a demo for it as well, if not I'll wait for it to be on Steam's sales.

Well I sure hope 3d realms created most of the content because it sure seems like Gearbox will be destined for mediocrity in game development for eternity. None of their games are what I would consider ground breaking. Solid maybe, but nothing great.

By the way.

Meh Borderlands was fucking awesome IMO. I played on console though so I didn't deal with the pc bugs/interface that a lot of people didn't like. Had so much fun playing that game so hopefully things are getting better.

As to DNF, apparently the demo ends with the screen pulling back and Duke playing a game while two girls are blowing him. One stands up, wipes her mouth and asks "how was the game" before he comments on how it took long enough it better be good. So at least the attitude is still there.

Borderlands was mainstream gaming. :colbert:

So because it can't live up to the hype it will suck? I don't get the connection. It could be excellent and still not live up to the hype.

That is of course assuming everyone on earth knows or even gives a damn about Duke Nukem.

I actually trust Gearbox to make a good game. Looking forward to this.

The game that will not die. Wouldn't we be the suckers if it finally comes out and they somehow made a revolutionary leap in FPS gaming after all this. Not saying that it's likely in the most remote sense, but nothing will surprise me about the game at this point.

What are the system requirements going to be for a game that was suppose to come out a decade ago? Will I have to upgrade to Windows 98?

Well it does let you draw on whiteboards. That's new and pretty cool and will probably affect multi-player the best.

I don't think peeing into a urinal is new, you could do that in the old Duke3D, but this time you get to see the stream. :)

I'll buy the game if it ever gets released. Can't hurt to check it out after all this time without Duke.
