Speaking of anecdotes, have you heard the one about the guy in his DUI class who had his Corvette impounded? I don't think he's told that one in a while.
Yeah, lawyer from New York. DUI in his driveway washing the vehicle.

No, that's anecdote, like I already said. That is evidence...she is just guessing.
Dude, you do realize I had a DUI and shopped insurance. My rates were unaffected and have been for the last nearly 10 years.
That is evidence...she is just guessing.
I am not guessing. Just because I am not a loser who drives drunk like you doesn't mean I can't research what it does to car insurance rates and get viable answers. Like I've said, if your rates didn't rise after your conviction then you are one lucky bastard. It seems most rates don't go unaffected.
You have offered nothing concrete to support your claim.
No, that's anecdote, like I already said.
This sounds like the ramblings of a mad man.Huh I guess google > experience for you.
I was arrested in my parking spot. I had broke up with the chick I was living with and she had a cop friend waiting. I don't think either thought I was going to blow a .168.
I wasn't drunk, I should have been below .08...I was having 1 beer an hour and gave it a 2 hour break prior to driving home at around 2am.
Many in my class also were not affected on their insurance, a few were.
Part of the class/counseling is you have write down what DUI has cost you.
We didn't have anyone I can remember that hurt anyone...most were around $4k-6k. Some were much much higher that were trying to fight it.
You can believe what you want, it's really a brainwashing movement. There is no problem in reality, yet everyone seems to know someone that has died personally.
It's about 13,000 deaths a year...most people that know someone that died as a personal friend are just full of shit and simply know of the person.

And still proves nothing, but you have a story. Also, your last two paragraphs have nothing to do with the debate we are having.
Shens. You were not drinking 1 beer/hour with a 2 hour break prior to blowing a .168. You weren't drunk? That BAC begs to differ.
Deaths suck, but there are a lot more things that kill that we should be focusing on.
This. I'm not defending boozin' and cruisin', but lemme tell ya, more cell phone related accidents and deaths happen each year in this country than DD does. You don't see anyone freaking out "I know someone who died because of someone like YOU talking on their phone while driving"
Stop dramatizing it, DD accidents are just a piece of the pie in a world where people text behind the wheel, do their makeup, shave, or do anything else distracting behind the wheel.
At a .081 you should have at least started to feel a little something, maybe not much but something. 🙁
You probably just had stronger stuff then normal, or you started drinking faster towards the end.
Oh and was the check just because of the checkpoint, or was your driving that bad?
And at .001 to high if you were have gotten checked almost any amount later you would have been under.

Well... if you dont submit to a field test, they can arrest you and take blood with a warrant.
personally. i'd rather voluntarily blow on the straw and go... than go to jail.
There is no problem, except 13,000 completely avoidable deaths because ass holes like you think there is no problem drinking and driving. You have to be fucking kidding me.
It's weird...
In the UK the breath test means pretty much nothing - if you fail you get taken in for a blood test, if you refuse and the officer has suspicions you get taken in for a blood test. If you pass you are on your way.
The evidence required for court is a blood test, in fact they actually take two tests and use the lower reading.
So if one test is BAC 0.081 and the other is BAC 0.079 they don't take you to court.
Your math was off by one thousandth.
Mythbusters validated it affecting their driving performance significantly.
Meh, I'd be fine if they took the OP's license away for a year. Having to take transit everywhere for a whole year would probably sort him out. 😀

The record in my ER was held by a homeless woman who routinely had blood levels over 500mg/dl (0.5). She came in once with a level of 745mg/dl (0.7). Obtunded but arrousable and breathing on her own.
no accident or anything? Thats crazy to jail a kid for making a mistake that didn't hurt anyone. There are better ways to punish someone for this.
