I am not guessing. Just because I am not a loser who drives drunk like you doesn't mean I can't research what it does to car insurance rates and get viable answers. Like I've said, if your rates didn't rise after your conviction then you are one lucky bastard. It seems most rates don't go unaffected.

You have offered nothing concrete to support your claim.

Huh I guess google > experience for you.

I was arrested in my parking spot. I had broke up with the chick I was living with and she had a cop friend waiting. I don't think either thought I was going to blow a .168.

I wasn't drunk, I should have been below .08...I was having 1 beer an hour and gave it a 2 hour break prior to driving home at around 2am.

Many in my class also were not affected on their insurance, a few were.

Part of the class/counseling is you have write down what DUI has cost you.

We didn't have anyone I can remember that hurt anyone...most were around $4k-6k. Some were much much higher that were trying to fight it.

You can believe what you want, it's really a brainwashing movement. There is no problem in reality, yet everyone seems to know someone that has died personally.

It's about 13,000 deaths a year...most people that know someone that died as a personal friend are just full of shit and simply know of the person.

I personally know...as in I can call them right now...3 people who killed people while drunk driving. I know myself and I hurt myself quite badly driving drunk.

It does. Even insurance companies are learning it's not a risk item to them.

You guys have got to be blind or simply trolling, esp those that wanted a .02 limit.

The .08 limit was about added revenue, not saving lives. In fact DUI deaths have remained a steady 30% of all fatalities on the road for over 10 years.

Of those as I have said many are the driver and driver only...

Deaths suck, but there are a lot more things that kill that we should be focusing on.

As I stated before, I learned that having a cut in your mouth...in my case having most of my lower lip torn by my teeth will MAJORLY skew your results.

Problem is to defend this you need a team of expert witnesses and to take the thing to trial.

It was a non-event in my life, entirely about me paying various organizations and about 8 hours of my time. You are allowed to pay for all your community service at a paltry $10/hr.

I just paid it out. Did my 30 days organizing rides/cabs, then the next 60 work only...and was done.

I learned a ton about the system and how DUI law falls outside the regular courts...you have far less rights and the judge is locked into mandatory sentencing even if they disagree with the case presented. You are also tried twice.

This. I'm not defending boozin' and cruisin', but lemme tell ya, more cell phone related accidents and deaths happen each year in this country than DD does. You don't see anyone freaking out "I know someone who died because of someone like YOU talking on their phone while driving"

Stop dramatizing it, DD accidents are just a piece of the pie in a world where people text behind the wheel, do their makeup, shave, or do anything else distracting behind the wheel.

Is it just another piece of the "things that cause accidents" pie? Yes, it is. Are things like eating, shaving, dressing, putting on make up, etc. behind the wall dangerous as well? Yes they are. But DD is in a different class. DD impairs your ENTIRE drive from start to finish, while eating/shaving/etc. may only distract someone for a minute or two. Does that make eating/shaving/etc. ok? Of course not, but if I had to fight the good fight, I'd rather do it against something that is 1) a more consistent problem (as said, alcohol impairs 100% of the drive) and 2) more enforceable (you may not catch someone in the minute they're texting but you can pull someone over a give 'em a PBT).

Chances are 10 minutes later he would have failed harder...

It's weird...

In the UK the breath test means pretty much nothing - if you fail you get taken in for a blood test, if you refuse and the officer has suspicions you get taken in for a blood test. If you pass you are on your way.

The evidence required for court is a blood test, in fact they actually take two tests and use the lower reading.

So if one test is BAC 0.081 and the other is BAC 0.079 they don't take you to court.

The problem is you assume that just because 'alcohol was involved' that alcohol was the reason someone died. That is not always the case. Just because someone blew a .081 after an accident doesn't mean that it was the reason the accident happened nor automatically that person's fault. However, we are conditioned to assume that someone who is impaired is always at fault. A herd of deer that Mario Andretti couldn't even avoid could have been the cause of a fatal crash but if the driver who did the swerving blew a .08 it was the alcohol and not nature that was at fault.

This. Repeat offenders should have it permanently removed and they should be castrated as well. How fucking stupid do you have to be to get behind the wheel of a car after drinking.
