When i ordered my Lappy yesterday, i got an email saying "Estimated Ship Date: on or before May 09, 2002". So i gave them a call and they said the Moble Radeon was backordered 2 weeks... Today i check my order status online and it says...

1.Order Processing: Wednesday, April 17, 2002


2. Pre-production: Wednesday, April 17, 2002


3. In Production: Wednesday, April 17, 2002
a. Kitting
b. Build
c. Testing

It says my system is being tested now... Does mean i'll get it much sooner than i thought??? According to their site, it still says "Estimated Ship Date: Thursday, May 09, 2002 "
 
dude we know you're getting the 8100 with the mobile 7500... steven will now be bringing the chick and the car over so you can have some fun...

EDIT now that aphexII has actually posted something, yes, dell quotes lead times that are quite a bit longer than usually necessary. they build in some leeway for themselves. you wouldn't want angry customers calling you all the time asking where their system is, would you?

also, each one is tested 5 times. what those tests are, i don't know.

but seriously...i would assume that it would still ship in May. it is probably being tested on everything else...and they will wait until the Radeon comes in and test it again. or they could just put that progress crap up and it is still sitting in the dock untouched. ya never know.
 
One time I ordered a WD 120JB from them on Monday morning, said it was going to get shipped Friday, got it that Thursday. So quite possibly you'll be getting sooner than expected.

u will get it very soon, i ordered a samsung monnitor and the expected ship date was like 2 months from when i ordered, but believe it or not, I got it 2 days later.

better do that asap, once its at the loading dock its hard for them to stop the package from getting on a truck. they know exactly where it is up to when its on the dock, then they have no clue which pallet or corner of the warehouse its in.
