Dude I run 3 crt's on my main rig 19" - 21" - 19"

I'm not viewed as a nerd even tho my degree is comp sci.

I head out to play soccer football etc, so no, I don't have a problem with it. Acutally alot of people think it's kinda cool because "I can have so many MSN windows open". Not what I use em for but whatever floats ur boat.

Edited for gammer, I'm not an english major!

in other words your monitor wont define you as a nerd you will be defined as a nerd if you are a nerd. seems about right.

Darn right, but while I consider myself a nerd, lots of others don't. Didn't stop me from getting a GF 😛 It's all about you, not what comp equip u have.

People actually respected it and came to me continuously for computer help... I had 8 floors in my freshman dorm, lived on the very top, and had people I didn't even know from all the different floors coming to my room saying 'This dude told me you might be able to help me with this..' type of stuff. I met a lot of cool people doing that and earned a lot of favors (alcohol, help with hw, etc) from it.

haha...favors would be nice 😛 But i hear where you guys are coming from and that makes me feel a lot more comfortable about things 🙂

When I built my server, people were like whoa you're buiding a computer?! I want to see! So like, the day all my stuff arrived from NewEgg there were literally like a total of 15 peolpe who were coming in and out of the room I built it in to see it.... we all got hammered during the process 😀

haha sounds like quite the interesting time.... I actually just talked to a friend of mine who is doing this 6 week orientation at his college and everyone is in shock and awe at the custom rig i built for ihm before he left

As long as you get out and dont spend every living moment in front of your computer people wont criticize you. My roomate frosh year was a complete dork...never let the room and was a complete slob...
At my school in the dorms there are "Resident Computer Consultants" that fixed peoples computers and got about $100 a month from the University....

I have dualies at the dorms. It's great for writing papers, research material on one screen and Word on the other.

 the deal i scored online is gonna be even better than i thought...ill end up getting the 19" Dell for $50

juicy box are you going to be freshman in college or will you be second/third year?? i want to get some dual monitors before i go to college 🙂

same reasons as you... one for TV one for work.

Ill be in the dorms my first 2 years probably...I dont think deskspace will be that big of an issue im just concerned about how that will make ME look 😛.Ive tried to get away from gaming much anymore cause that led me down a path in HS i dont want to take again. It would be convienent to have 2 i think however so I can use one as a TV.....Decisions decisions...anyone have any input?

walk the fine line between nerdy and cool.
also, @ college, what you were in HS dont mean shiz. its not worth not doing what you want to look cool.
enjoy your dual monitor goodness.

I think im going for it...taking advantage of a hot deal (thanks RossMAN) and Ill see how it goes...I plan on getting out a LOT in college but itll be nice to have the 2 monitors for papers an/or TV and what not!

2 LCD is a must if you do any type of Presentations based off of work you have done. I had MS word fullscreen and MS excel fullscreen. This was awesome and helped out a ton. At one time, I had 3 screens (17" crt thrown in) and put powerpoint on that.

You might think that "more screens = more productivity" is bull, but it isn't. Unfortunately, when you go back to using 1 screen at the library or computer lab, you suffer.

we have some dual labs 😀

the lab was donated by Intel...like 40 Dell computers w/dual 2001FPs, dual 3.2ghz Xeons, 2GB of RAM, 3D Labs Wildcat 4 7210...

Those computers are the sh!t.

Dude...the nerds aren't the ones with dual LCDs..they are the ones practicing LARP at midnight inbetween the dorms.

I had a 17" LCD and a 19" crt (crappy one scrounged from campus) last semester, it got me all the ladies (read: nobody gave a sh!t).

If you dont have the confidence to deal with having some "nerdish" goodies then you should leave it at home. College is all about being/becoming the person you want to be. Grow up and stop caring about what people think. If you're not a nerd they'll see that.
