Have a deal going down in FS/FT where im getting another 19" LCD for a killer price....debating wether or not to keep it for college. Ill be in the dorms my first 2 years probably...I dont think deskspace will be that big of an issue im just concerned about how that will make ME look 😛.Ive tried to get away from gaming much anymore cause that led me down a path in HS i dont want to take again. It would be convienent to have 2 i think however so I can use one as a TV.....Decisions decisions...anyone have any input?

I had three crts in my little dorm room when I was in college. and one of them was a 21", size of a cube fridge... lcds weren't too common back then 🙁

am I gonna be looked at funny though by people? Im not one to really care about that....just dont want to be a total Nerd 😛 I do hear people are A LOT less judgemental in college however and treat you for who you are...not what PC equip you have 😛

it'll be cramped, but fine. As far as looking like a geek...you'll definately stick out.

hmm i worked doing IT stuff for my university, didn't see anyone with dual lcds. however, if you had dual lcds or your roommate did then you would have probably had the smarts to fix whatever computer issue you had without contacting me...

i had 1crt, 1lcd in my dorm for a while. now i'm just running 1 lcd cuz im too lazy to lug my crt to school.

probably 1 will be my TV...the other just normal stuff

I haven't seen any, but I don't think anyone would think its weird or anything. If anything people find my UV cathodes very interesting.

Dude I run 3 crt's on my main rig 19" - 21" - 19"

I'm not viewed as a nerd even tho my degree is comp sci.

I head out to play soccer football etc, so no, I don't have a problem with it. Acutally alot of people think it's kinda cool because "I can have so many MSN windows open". Not what I use em for but whatever floats ur boat.

Edited for gammer, I'm not an english major!

in other words your monitor wont define you as a nerd you will be defined as a nerd if you are a nerd. seems about right.

go for it, who cares what others think. just don't act like its a big deal...

and yes people are far less judgmental in college. its a whole new world from high school. Just don't be a jackass and you will be fine.

just half some half naked lady strewn across them as your background...no one will care about why you have ual monitors and most will probobly think "why didnt i think of that"

People are way less judgemental in college. I had a CRT and LCD and a case with all the whizzbang neons fans and stuff. People who would come to my room would be more like...that's awesome rather than...that's lame you geek.

People actually respected it and came to me continuously for computer help... I had 8 floors in my freshman dorm, lived on the very top, and had people I didn't even know from all the different floors coming to my room saying 'This dude told me you might be able to help me with this..' type of stuff. I met a lot of cool people doing that and earned a lot of favors (alcohol, help with hw, etc) from it.

2 LCD is a must if you do any type of Presentations based off of work you have done. I had MS word fullscreen and MS excel fullscreen. This was awesome and helped out a ton. At one time, I had 3 screens (17" crt thrown in) and put powerpoint on that.

You might think that "more screens = more productivity" is bull, but it isn't. Unfortunately, when you go back to using 1 screen at the library or computer lab, you suffer.

haha...favors would be nice 😛 But i hear where you guys are coming from and that makes me feel a lot more comfortable about things 🙂

Yeah, during my freshmen year I did the following:

Built an cold air intake duct.
Built a chilled WC kit from an old water bubbler.
Got a new case, installed 3 blue LED fans and 2 12" blue cathodes.
Etc.

Got me more attention than just about anyone on the floor.

😀

When I built my server, people were like whoa you're buiding a computer?! I want to see! So like, the day all my stuff arrived from NewEgg there were literally like a total of 15 peolpe who were coming in and out of the room I built it in to see it.... we all got hammered during the process 😀
