Wtf are you talking about, you're saying they're running diesel generators 24/7? I'd be really surprised if this was more than a failover power source. What city is this in?

I need to get out more? Haha, sounds like you need to get out more.

80 out of the top 100 corporations are AMD powered? That's a huge claim, where can I find more info on that?

Markfw900, no offense but if you can't spell bureaucracy then maybe there's a reason your management is hesitant to move away from intel and you should read a little more yourself.

He already told you...read a bit more!!!!

Dont slam someone cause they cannot spell every word...He listed in his post he believed it was spelled wrong...Maybe AT should pull their head out and offer spellcheck like the other forums...

It is sad they after so many years of using spellcheckers (20+) that I have forgotten how to spell, but I don't want to open word, type, spell check, then post every time. Sorry, I'm lazy. And the city of Corona, California said they couldn't supply enough power, hence the generators until further notice. There have been regular brownouts there as it is I heard.

And one more thing. Viditor is the one that said the 80 of 100... quote. Its on page one of this thread. You need reading comprehension as well as brains and manners.

I don't think I've ever seen an AMD powered device in an enterprise environment.
You really need to read then, They already have 10% of the market and are gaining rapidly.

Even if Opteron servers sell as much as Xeon servers with all companies offering both, with Dell being Intel only that leaves 25% max market share for AMD.

I never use spell check, even when I have the option. It I maek a mispelring, oh wlel.

(Goshdern, takes me LONGER to intentionally misspell than to spell properly)

Yes, AT is now in polite mode, so be polite. If you read back, we had that discussion and it was clarified.

Also, it is not recommend that you be the grammar police. Your sentenance structures will come back to haunt you.

Please be kinder. If you want to see why, go read the sticky in ATOT by Anandtech Moderator.

As Mark pointed out, I am the one who posted that...and I was wrong!! It's actually 85...
From the Q3 2005 AMD conference call notes...
Now 85 of the companies on Forbes Global 100 are AMD customers
CC Notes
There are a few other interesting tidbits in there...

Edit:BTW, if you want to view the whole analyst conference call, you can find it here

I thought I'd also provide a link for some of the rest of my post
http://www.internetnews.com/stats/article.php/3554506

Hewlett Packard's Proliant DL585 server, powered by dual-core AMD 880 Opteron processors, and the rack mount HP Proliant DL385 server powered by AMD's dual-core 280 Opteron processors, were rated the highest performing x86 four-way and two-way database servers.
The HP DL585 also led in price/performance. The HP BL25, also based on Opteron, took the number one performance ranking among two-way blade servers
