Anyone else with skin dryness in the winter especially around the eyes? Every night I seem to be unconsciously scratching my eyes out despite having a humidifier running right next to me on high. I put moisturizer on and a few hours into the night I'm already scratching. Vaseline seems to be the only thing that doesn't burn, but that doesn't last all night either. As a result, I have red or darkened skin there throughout each day, not unlike how a sick person would look.

I believe it's because skin is thin around the eyes and it's the first to dry out. I'm just asking if I'm alone in dealing with this with my eyes every damn winter. Will drinking excess water alleviate the problem?

This only happens in winter and I'm healthy otherwise.

I get skin problems in the winter due to the dryness. The worst area for me is the bridge of my nose and the area where my nose joins the forehead. Lots of flaking of skin goes on there and I apply coconut oil there to prevent it from happening. If I forget to do that one day, it starts flaking again.

Never had that issue with the eyes though, that sounds a lot worse.

Oh and I always hear drinking more water helps, but I honestly dont notice a difference. I normally drink a lot of water too.

Get a hygrometer and put it somewhere near your bedroom. It'll help you get an idea of how dry the air actually is. Typically 50% or higher is fine. That'll help you know what you're really dealing with.

If it's below 50%, you can look at a central humidifier for your HVAC unit. They sell them to help make heat pumps more efficient since humidity can help a room feel more comfortable....

Ehh my knuckles get dried out and sometimes the back of my hands and my elbows. My fiancee likes to put lotion, it seems to help.

people tend to take longer hoter showers in the winter. it's the hot water (and extend duration under the water removing oils) that's drying out the skin.

I get really dry and ichy calfs on the front side and a dry itchy spot on my left hip. Think its due to socks and underwear. But it goes away once winter leaves. Is annoying though. Why does scratching an itch have to feel so good.

Do you moisturize through the day?

I don't bother, but I find that a humidifier makes a huge difference for my skin.
