The other being you couldn't get into med school. :p

I agree 100% this country is entirely overmediated. Everyone and their mom is on some sort of anti-depressant.

I know one person on anti-depressant and he really does need it.

I have a coworker who does absolutely nothing positive for her health. In fact, she does all sorts of negative things to herself (inactivity, smoking, etc.) She is a firm believer that there is a pill for everything. She must take a dozen or more meds in a day.

I know one person (a minor) whose parents are trying to force him to take antidepressants, and since he refused, he is grounded :(

I'm an adult for one and I'm very well studied in pharmacology, two. I get a big bottle of speed every month from the pharmacy knowing well the effects.

But seriously, giving a developing brain a constant supply of speed is tantamount to child abuse in my opinion.

Whenever I read about the parents who pressure their doctors to prescribe their kids a prescription stimulant to gain an edge in class make me sick.

Don't get me wrong, I take my medication for the edge, but I know what I'm doing.

I take a blood pressure pill. Have been on it since I was 11. Runs in family.

I am going to talk to my doctor about Adderall. I think it would help me concentrate. Was diagnosed with ADD as a child. Took medicines until I became a teenager. Stopped them then.

actually, i chose chiropractic school over med school... it's amazing how getting a couple midthoracic adjustments will make you get rid of your sports induced asthma and muscular back pains rather than huffing albuterol and taking at least 9 advils each day will make you change your views on health care.

edit: just so people know, i take add medication. i can never stay focused or on task if i don't take it... i would never be able to finish reading a single paragraph and comprehend anything i read without it. on the same token, that's the only thing that i take... i don't take pills for pain or anything; i get an adjustment instead.

oh, and i take antibiotics whenever i have an infection that my body can't work out on its own.

Too bad the bones can't stay in place when the myofacial tissue pull them back into misalignment a week later.
Rolfer > chiropractor
;)

there's a lot to be said for rolfers... they do awesome work.

also, bones can stay in place after you break the reflex loop causing the muscles to fire and pull the bones out of alignment. the irritation of the nerve causes an increase in the function of the tissue receiving the signal... when that happens to muscle, it contracts. a contracted muscle will keep the bone out of place which will keep the signal coming. the problem is that sometimes, the problem has gone on for so long that the muscle memory and altered shape of the vertebrae (it's called wolfe's law... bone changes its shape to handle the stress it's under) make it difficult for your body not quickly go back out of going towards alignment. that's why rolfing takes about an hour and costs lots of money per treatment.

Luckily I get free Rolfing sessions from my old boss. :D

You aslo forgot to mention that an actual rolfing session can be slightly to midly painful.
Completely worth it though.

oh, yeah... definitely. they're moderately painful and cause people to sweat throughout the treatments. but, as tweak says, it's worth it depending on how bad your biomechanics are. i think that whenever i have my practice, i'm going to refer a couple of my patients who've got really bad biomechanics to a rolfer and then just maintain the work the rolfer's done.

Luckily I started young and will continue to have routine maintenance my entire life.
Hopefully no back surgury for me!

anyways, this country's way too heavily medicated...

i can't decide whether i'm happy or pissed about drug prices... happy because it keeps people off pills they think they need or pissed because it costs people so much for pills that they actually do need to live and function properly in society. i guess it doesn't matter as much because the real problem are the drug companies, their lobby, and the constant commercials they put out making people think that they have something wrong with them and that they NEED their drug, despite all the averse side effects.

Please read up and get some facts on this.

A majority of the individuals that take medication for serious mental illnesses such as depression actually need them.

P.S. The Skins? 3-6 I thought they were supposed to be Superbowl contenders? Bahahahahaha

hehe yeah you just pointed out two of the problems... you either get a huge-ass bottle for free for stuff you might not need OR you can't afford a normal bottle of stuff that you do need.

??? did you read the post i made where i said that there are people who actually do need medication (anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, a.d.d., parkinson's, alzheimer's, and other various mental problems) to live and function properly in society?
