I've never done this so YMMV.

Unless you lost a bunch of weight recently. Some evidence says that THC can be released from fat cells.

Assuming your job doesn't involve security clearance they won't waste their money on a hair test. If they do, you are screwed. They can detect THC in any hair on the body and and that is there until you cut it off.

Be sure to be honest about any over the counter drugs you are taking. If you are taking anything with Pseudoephedrine in it you will pop for methamphetmines. Phenylephrine, which is replacing psuedo as a cheaper and none meth making substitute will not.

There are quite a few other OTC and perscription drugs that will cause you problems as well. Make sure to mention them.

This is the big one to avoid a headache. There are MANY, MANY OTC and prescription drugs (even simple antibiotics) that will (may) give false positives for THC, optiates, benzo's, cocaine, etc. Just do a quick google search, there are tons of lists out there.

..you think a drug test is invasive? Try a polygraph..

I had to take a drug test to get a job at a supermarket. If you won't go for a job just because of a drug test..well, good luck with life.

Unless they do a hair test, which is very rare I might add, you'll pass with flying colors.

You have to smoke every day for months or even years for it to take more than a couple of weeks to be clean.

Not true at all. Even smoking an 8th in 4 days and being clean for a week or more before repeating and doing so for 2 or 3 months, *cough* some people *cough* piss dirty for 45 days. I, uh, know somebody who was clean for more than a month after said schedule and, even with a system cleanser used properly was pissing dirty.

The "Cleaner" is probably what flagged the test - not THC metabolites.

Some people don't like living where there are draconian gun laws, some people don't want to work for companies that judge a person on the content of their urine rather than their character ;)

Nope. Before and after the test, was still pissing dirty. While the cleanser was active, the test came back potential positive, a better result, but still positive.

I'm sure they weren't too sad that you went with someone else.

That's pretty fucked IMO. I think the only jobs around here that require a drug test are CSIS (CIA equivalent), Police, Emergency services and maybe a few others.

I've had jobs retail-stocking, as a hotel bellhop, restaurant busser, and a couple of software companies (real career jobs). None required drug testing.

I'm not a user, but I wouldn't apply for a job that requires drug testing, just out of principle. It's an invasion of privacy, and any casual usage outside of work would have no impact on my ability to perform my job well. It shows a lack of trust and integrity for applicants (and employees). It's draconian, moral policing of the worst sort, and I would boycott it.

I'd argue it's only invading your privacy if they didn't tell you about it. If they just ask you to take a test and you decline, there is no invasion.

Again, they dont care. They more than likely get better insurance rates because they drug test.

There are plenty of good workers out there that are willing to pee in a cup to make a good career move. If they happen to lose a few non-dopers over it, I dont think they stay up late tossing and turning.

you'll be fine. you won't get a hair test as those cost the employers like 3x what a plss test costs.

And no-one does blood for drug. The only time blood is really used is for alcohol tests in the state of MN.
