They are just doing the jobs that Americans won't do. Give them Amnesty! They are our friends!

Stop discriminating against Mexicans. They are simply practicing their beautiful and ancient culture. Don't impost your values on them. Just accept that it's Atzlan.

Give me a fucking break. I can a drive about five minutes from my current location and get just about any drug I want. Pot is easier for kids to get than alcohol in some places, and millions of Americans already smoke weed on a daily basis. Making it legal isn't going to create some explosion in demand, if people want it they can already get it.

How many teens and kids try it BECAUSE it is illegal?

I'd estimate approx 0 try because it's illegal.

The kids try it because they want to get high.

Than you would approximate wrong. It being illegal adds to it's being used in for rebellion. I knew a girl that did just about anything that pissed off her parents, including smoking pot, didn't even like it, just did it to get under their skin. Do you have kids? Rebellion is what kids do.

I did say "approx" 0. There certainly are those who do it as some sort of rebellion, but, the vast majority do it because they enjoy it. And, of the ones who do it for rebellion, it's most likely rebellion against parents, not rebellion against the law.

How many less would do it if it was legal? Approximately zero.

Gotta love our OP quote of, "plus several pounds of processed marijuana worth an estimated $14.6 million."

The DEA consistently overestimates the street value of marijuana, when I was a young wippersnapper people used to go Newton Country to Harvest ditchweed by the multiple garbage sack full, and yep, it took a whole garbage bag full to get you high.

Who is a bigger Xenophobe on this board than you? Can't think of one. Now the Mexicans don't have any culture because some Mexican gangs are in the drug trade?

People seem to have trouble understanding the differences between refining a drug like mary jane (no refining required) and harder drugs.

Cocaine, heroin, meth and others require a high amount of processing to reach their drug state. It's neither easy nor cheap. One bust on a meth lab costs the drug sellers quite a bit of time and money.

Not so with Marijuana. You just plant some more somewhere else.

You're not going to win this fight. It's impossible. Legalize the growing and sale in the US. Sell it and tax it like other recreational drugs (tobacco, alcohol). Do you know anyone who grows their own tobacco plants?

Well legalizing it will go a long ways in taking care of that. No profit no reason to do it.

It will help, but the gang problem won't just go away. I doubt they'll become good law abiding citizens. Instead they'll probably move into other traditional organized crime activities or commit kidnappings for ransom.

Who said they don't have any culture? I said the opposite.

I suggest you try to stay in your place where you belong, which is cutting and pasting irrelevant inane blocks of text.

This makes no sense. If someone is addicted to marijuana they will keep smoking it if it is legalized. They won't suddenly switch to buying slaves or hashish just because those are still illegal.

If pot is legalized, potheads will grow their own or (being lazy stoners) buy it at the mini-mart with their munchies.

Legalize and tax it heavily. The drug lords lose a major revenue source, forest grow farms become pointless since they can't compete with the legal farms, tax revenue and and legal jobs are added. World peace.

I believe you are mistaken. I have every reason to believe that all stoners are just rebelling against their parents and will start buying chinese slaves when pot is made legal.

This isn't really true. The amount of processing isn't that large, it done in the middle of the woods with common chemicals, and meth has a newer method that is even easier. There are processing "plants" clandestine labs that process high volume but they are also using rudimentary processes, but there is laboratory medical stuff, like pharmaceutical cocaine for surgery, or morphine and synthetics, but the street stuff isn't hard to make. Where pot has the advantage is that it can be grown almost anywhere, but it still take time to grow, harvest and cure it isn't that hard to process the hard stuff.

Tobacco is really cheap, if you had to buy cigarettes at 3 for $5 you beat someone would be growing it.
