<< This is pretty cool looking.
Just for comparison, The Character model for Shrek in the movie was around ~800k polygon's alone 🙂 Not sure what an entire was pushing. >>
Yeah but Shrek was made for the big screen. Don't need that much for a desktop PC. I hardly notice jaggies even at 1024x768 on a 19" screen. Though for films in the theatre even slight jaggies are unacceptable I guess. Hey I wonder what resolution they use for Shrek, anyone know? Not that it matters much if you view it on a tv or monitor at low res, but I digress...

Well that would require one of those VR goggle things. They render 2 screens at once, 1 for each eye. So that'll take about twice the capability we have now just to render the same scenery. But when we have twice the power usually it ends up going towards better 3D rendering on the flat screen (which ends up being 2D really). Meaning non-stereoscopic.
On the other hand there are 3D shutter glasses which don't require as much processing power since they render 1 at a time switched (1 eye then the other). Anyone here ever try out shutter glasses? I haven't yet. Elsa used to bundle those with their video cards.
I can't wait for the day we no longer buy monitors but instead 3D stereoscopic goggles. I think this will happen in our lifetimes. Just imagine...real 3D!
