how about women generally wear dressy jeans that you could probably go out in, and most men would want to wear wranglers. i love wranglers but not to work.

Ok, you got me.... when I said naked woman, I meant women in tight clothes. I was naked though... ;)

Same here. The simple fact is that women have a larger array of business and business-casual type clothing combinations to choose from than men. The jeans part is neither business nor business casual, at any time, for either gender. If they can wear jeans anytime then so should men. The shirts and skirts and all that aren't such a big deal (unless they're getting away with mini-skirts and tube tops).

At my last job my wife and I worked together. She made more money then I did. Same position. BTW, I was more qualified. The boss was a lady. She argued with me when I asked for X, but not with my wife (who was not my wife at the time).

This was at a fairly large corp.

also can you wear a kilt?

I have complained, got me no where. I was told I could wear a kilt, and I might just do it as protest to no shorts this summer.

They actually wear wal-mart jeans. I've got some nice jeans I got from Nordstrom that I wear on Fridays.

Sounds like you've got a valid complaint to HR.

Local HR rep is a woman. Corporate HR rep is a woman. Upper execs are old fogies who still wear suit & ties 365 days a year, so I doubt they'd care.

The jeans thing would piss me off too, but well, I've come to accept the kinds of shirts they can wear.

One lady wears a shirt that has a picture of her cats on it.

You have a point on the jeans (I'd love to hear the reasoning behind that), but the rest of them seem fine.

They really aren't supposed to wear jeans Monday through Thursday either. Just no one says anything. But, if I do it, they tell me it's against company policy and that it should not happen again. I say, well the girls are wearing jeans too. They say, well, they shouldn't. But, they don't get told not to.

Woman get to go on maternity leave. Men don't.

They do here in california. Called paid family leave though.

The wife of one of my coworkers is pregnant, and he will be allowed time off around the time the baby is born.

The sooner you accept the fact that it is unfair, the better. Trust me. You'll feel better after you accept it.

I basically have, but it still sucks. I like wearing jeans far better than regular or dress pants.

You forgot about -

Women can wear skanky hooker boots and 6 inch stiletto. Men have to uncomfortable dress shoes that prohibits lifting heel more than 1 inch off ground.

My dress shoes are damned comfortable.

As are mine. Ecco

Now wait a minute here. You have a problem with a dress cose that encourages women to show more skin then men?

Are you gay? (Not that there's a problem with that)

You remind me of the fools that complain about ladies nights at bars.

Look smartass, I just want to be able to wear jeans all week like they can. That's all.

Dress for success. If you want to advance, dress above your peer group. It contributes positively to what superiors will think about you.

Even if I could dress down, I wouldn't.

I can't say that hasn't crossed my mind. But then again, I also don't see what's wrong with wearing a nice pair of jeans instead of pants.

Besides, women like sharp dressed men. And to that skimpily clad women in the office, and there's all sorts of good vibes to be had (although I agree that ugly t-shirts should be forbidden, unless they're tight [for good reasons], of course). Reap the profit instead of whining about it.

Want to talk about unfair dress policies? How about spending $600 on dress shirts and ties only to have the dress code changed to business casual, necessitating additional expenditure of money for polo shirts.

Air Force did the same damn thing to me, also. Spent $400 or so on uniform parts to wear the dress uniform on a daily basis only to have the Chief of Staff declare that since we're at war, we need to wear the camouflage uniform.

In both cases, the change was welcome from a comfort perspective, but it could have come several months earlier to save me the expense of buying the clothing!

There is only one female in this office who is under the age of 30 (I'm 24), and I don't care how she dresses. The rest are all 35+ and 95% of them are overweight and married. No eye candy here.

Don't discount a woman because she's older (fat, yes; older, no). I have some fond memories from my 20's. :D

A good pair of dress pants and shirt can really be the most comfortable outfit. I actually wish I got more chances to wear slacks to work, love em.

Does your Dress-Code policy state the above? You're not going to have much of an arguement with the skirt vs. shorts but you certainly have an arguement on the Jeans issue.

If this is listed in the policy, what is the company's reason behind this? Why do they feel it is in good business-sense to allow women to wear jeans on any day but not men? Is it something with the job in particular? I can't really think of a valid-reason for this.

If it is important to you I'd file a complaint. Again, I think your company would be hard-pressed to come up with a valid excuse for allowing this disparity.

They make up for it by outliving us. And if stuck around long enough, get a nice check too.

Not to mention that this gap is because of women being more likely to work in lower paying jobs... iirc women earn 97 or 98% of what men earn when working in the same job

Makes me even happier that I've got the job I do... I wore shorts and a T-shirt to work today.:)

...I'm sure the women don't want to see my pasty-white legs, but I wore shorts anyway.

That has been debunked again and again. Women on average have less formal job skills than men therefor they are paid on average less than men. When the salaries of men and women are compared with equivalent job skills and similar work experience the salaries are similar. For an explanation, see the Straight Dope (I believe this topic was also address in Freakonomics).

Posting that on an internet message board is not going to get you laid. Nice try.
