Typical King/horror/suspense genre. They did some quality work establishing the characters and setting the atmosphere, so it raised the hopes that maybe it wouldn't get screwed all to hell the second the big bad whatever arrives on the scene. Nope, no such luck. Suspense and mood are tossed out the window in favor of special effects, deaths and gratuitous shots of the monster du jour.

I'm all in favor of taking anyone who wants to direct a suspense movie and forcing them to watch 100 straight hours of Hitchcock before allowing them behind a camera. It should be a law.

And btw I will still go see this movie. I read the book.

You're going to be sorely disappointed. What they did to Dudditt in the end was completely unforgiveable.

As for the movie, i absolutely hated it. I didn't feel a single moment of suspense after the thing crawled out of that guys ass.

As for the Animatrix. I don't know how it was played for you guys, but it was played at the end of the movie for me. So you couldn't see just the Animatrix and then sneak into another movie.

Also, I'm kind of lost in the SSDD deal, by the end of the movie I was still wondering what does SSDD stand for.. I must've missed something while watching the movie

Yeah, what a waste of money. It's not even worth the download even. I paid $7.50 to go see it and the only way I can convince myself that my money was spent well is if I tell myself that I paid that money to see the Anamatrix. :|

It was played at the beginning for me.

The movie has a terrible ending. What happened to all those infected people in quarantine?! What happened to the space ship that landed on the mountain?

HOLY CRAP!!!

Just saw the movie tonight, and I don't know what all the bad press is about. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I thought it was GREAT. It was one of the few movies based on a Stephen King book that actuallly FELT like Stephen King had a hand in the writing. Very creepy and obtuse, just the way his books are written.

I can see how lots of people might think it's confusing but if you're familiar with King's works and how his characters are very introspective, then it makes a lot more sense.

The Animatrix at the beginning was frosting on the cake. I'm definitely buying Dreamcatcher on DVD when it comes out.

No wonder half you guys hated the movie. Your attention spans are worse than the sh1t weasels that squirt out of people's asses.

1. SSDD = Same sh1t, different day. It was said at least a few times during the movie. Any half retarded baboon could piece that together.

2. Jonsey DID morph into an alien when he bit the guy in half. Pay attention you retards.

If you didn't like the movie for other reasons, that's your perogative. But don't hate it because stuff wasnt spoon fed to you like everything else that comes out of hollywood. Maybe the fact that the movie required some lateral thinking scared off a lot of people.

I just hope people don't bash King's stories. Before you do, go read his Dark Tower series. it owns you and the movie.

movie was dumb at the end though. go download the animatrix.

danny~!

And what does it have to do with the movie?

2. Jonsey DID morph into an alien when he bit the guy in half. Pay attention you retards.

No he didn't. The alien took over him, but it was a seperate entity. Remember the alien outside the washroom he encountered? Did that morph from something?

And we're not the only ones that hated the movie: Rotten Tomatoes

Maybe I missed it when they mentioned what SSDD was..heck, maybe I missed it when I was laughing my ass off when one of the characters started 'talking' to Jonesy through a gun.

Don't try to cover up this movie's horrible story development, horrible character development, horrible CGI, and horrible acting by trying to say that we need to be 'spoon fed'.

ok i just watched the movie. it was OK at best, but nothing like i expected from the previews. i didn't like how they just threw the whole alien thing at you. there was no build up to it. there were a bunch of guys in the woods doing there thing then cut to morgan freeman talking about fighting aliens.

amnesiac, i don't see how anyone could call the film "great." there were too many plot holes and carelessly thrown together scenes.

I kind of liked it. It was one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. Yeah the ending sucked but I liked most of the rest of it.

I didn't think it was horrible, but not great either. It seemed like a typical watered down King book. I've not read Dreamcatcher, but I can bet that he had a ton more material on the kids in Derry than the movie did.

It's true though that you have to have read a lot of King in order to fully appreciate most of the things in that movie.

Questions:
1.) Was Duditts a space cop (was he a different alien species from Grey??) who was hunting Mr. Grey down? Why did he take the form of a retarded child--wouldn't that *SLOW* his hunting down? LOL! And most importantly, why did he wait 30 years to get *AT* him.
1a.) Since these aliens were psychic, why couldn't they hunt each other down sooner? Why did Duddits have to give psychic powers to those four children?
2.) Why did those attack helicopters hit that space ship so late? You mean it has taken 30 years to track that crashed ship, yet they knew of these aliens and their activities 30 years earlier? SO it took these super intelligent morphing aliens ***30 years*** to get to a potable water source to take over the world. Please!
2a) Were those aliens in that ship ***spawns*** of Mr. Grey, or did Grey arrive to Earth with friends? Why did they come to Earth, to infest or was it just an accidental crash landing on Earth? The movie mentioned they sent a military unit to obliterate the ship, but the alien ship seemed pretty formidable in their defenses when they were first attacked by the attack helicopters.

Wow. First of all, that ship didn't crash 30 years ago. It just happened.

Duddits wasn't a cop hunting Mr. Grey down. He was just an alien put on earth to protect against when Mr. Grey would eventually come. Maybe he was a retarded child because that was the best he could do. It'd be quite a feat to come to earth and impersonate a human perfectly. Duddits foresaw somehow that the 4 guys would be in those woods 30 years later when Mr. Grey's ship crashed.

The ship was not there 30 years. I don't know why you thought that.

The ship was full of aliens. Mr. Grey just happened to get farther away from the ship than any of the others before the helicopters came.

1.I think duddits was put there to determine whether or not the humans should be saved, I.E, the 4 kids showed compassion for him when they stopped the bullies. This is why he gave "THEM" the power to save the world.
2.It was clearly stated that this space ship had recently crashed, IE within a few days. The ship was prob sent to Earth to take it over, but they might have been shot at by the military and forced the crash landing. You did see the giant hole in the mountain right?
And after the helos blew away all the aliens on the ground, they decided to self detruct it to kill those people so they couldn't tell others about them.

I was hoping the movie was going to be about Werewolves or some other Native american mystical thing, seeing as how the movie was called Dream Catcher and they eluded to it several times, but it had nothing to do with the movie.

Question:
But didn't Morgan Freeman say he was burnt out after 29 years of alien chasing, and that is why he was passing the reigns to Tom Sizemore's character?

Morgan Freeman's statements were mentioned by other people in the audience after the movie and my wife independently confirmed this as well. This makes it very confusing when analyzing it. My wife humorously just said to me: "Don't rack your brain--it's not worth it for this POS".

Your analysis plugs holes in the movie, but Morgan's statements in the movie really throw a loop............

Geez, I really don't want to read the book to plug some of these holes..........

i.e. morgan had been chasing aliens for that many years such as the ones at Roswell he was basically talking in general there had been a couple of attempts to take the world in previous years mentioned in the book

**spolier**

I thought the ship just *morphed* to destroy some of those helos. I didn't interpret that they imploded themselves. They were a sporish alien that could morph into any shape. I just saw their ship consisting of the same material.

I didn't interpret Duditts arriving 30 years ahead of time to eventually catch up with Mr. Grey on Earth. If Duditts was after Grey the whole time, he wouldn't *wait* 30 years to get at him. You know how much *damage* Mr. Grey could do in 30 years on different planets.

And Just b/c Duditts kills Grey at the end of the movie, that still leaves a whole bunch of infected animals--despite those military screens they set up. This leaves for a stupid sequeal as rationally, these sporish aliens would take over the world regardless. There was just toooo much infection to stop this alien organism from infesting the world..........................UNLESS Grey is the father and when *he* dies, his brtheren die.

LOL! There is just so many unanswered questions.

Can some please enlighten?.........
