For the dragonball haters... it's obvious you've never seen the original dragonball*. Also, just look at other shows like Power Rangers (which is American actors doing scenes with Japanese seirei scenes cut in) that were popular. Kids love the idea of being some sort of superhero with some cool power whether it be ultra 9000 power level grunting action or summoning huge mecha (personally, summoning mecha would be bad ass... I wouldn't mind having a Gundam :Q).

EDIT:

*Note: To expound upon this... the original dragonball isn't much like your grunt-fest that's been described... it actually has quite a bit of humor (albeit some is perverted). The original dragonball had a lot more of a Dr. Slump (another Toriyama manga/anime) feel to it than a fighter. Also, the manga itself is not filled with tons of grunting (as I read the manga a long time ago from Cell saga on rather than waiting for FUNimation). The grunting is also what is known as "filler"... that fun little thing that makes it easier to not outrun an anime. Some animes will do this via inserting anime-only sagas (ex. Bleach's Bount saga) ... others will have short little filler episodes here and there (ex. One Piece has random episodes usually after a saga is over... rarely are there more than 5-10) and some just find ways to elongate episodes (ex. Dragonball Z grunting).

If you look at the Wikipedia page, you'll see that the two animes (having about a combined 450 episodes) ran about the same time as the manga (a small offset in the beginning)... this almost guarantees there will be filler of some sort.

Looks like a film made by a bunch of high school virgins who still think they can glow and beat up their teachers.

It really does look like some cheap high school set with a crappy cast and the token "over dramatic I'm gonna go all out anyways even though this is gonna blow" actor (Piccolo).

The Japanese must be laughing at us, "We were finished and bored with DBZ a decade ago."

Um this movie is not even Z... we're gonna need an additional 10 years for the greenlight on that.

Looks terrible, though to be honest I never really understood why everyone had such a hardon for Dragonball in the first place.

KT

No shit, it looks like children stuff to me....

... Japanese sentai/super sentai ...

Thanks, I always forget the name of that type of show 😱 (just know it starts with a 'S' haha). I usually look it up but was lazy this time 😛.

I still don't know why they have some scrawny white boy playing Goku. They really should have just made this a high-budget animated movie.

Ive never been one to complain about Asians getting under-representation in cinema. I dont mind that we're all either triads, immigrant smugglers or accountants in every single movie.

But i mean really. Why do you have a lil white guy playing goku

Yeah, it's kind of funny that the girl playing Bulma is sort of girl next door/wholesome looking but the girl playing Chi Chi is an out and out hottie.

Bulma to me is more of a manipulative girl next door... she's not horribly naughty although will prey on anyone's weakness to get what she wants... in a good way 😛. She only ever did something lewd once and that was when Goku took her panties and she flashed Muten Roshi (without realizing it). Although, her role in the Z section of dragonball is not much more than an inventor (with her dad) and momma to Trunks... much less than it was in dragonball where she's a "main sidekick" to Goku.

The thing that I find weird is the plot listed at IMDB puts this in the original Dragonball.

I wonder if Goku will do his gratuitous private touching to discern someone's gender like he does in Dragonball . ... *pat pat* Ohh you're a boy too! *touches Chi Chi's armor with his foot* Ohhh no balls... you're a girl!

Heh, I think alot of the humor would be lost since the cartoon Goku was a little kid who only had contact with one other person and the movie Goku will be played by 25 year old that looks like an older teen. 🙂

edit: Ok, the girl playing Bulma doesn't look so wholesome in this movie poster.
