Oh, you are talking about the Flask of Lightning, but you can't use a Thousand Cuts with Lightning Flask, at least my game prevents me from doing it, not that it increases the damage a thousand cuts does. It just slows down time so you have uninterrupted damage time.

What really makes a Thousand Cuts insane is improving Mighty Offense tonic. It adds 58 damage to your base weapon damage.

OK, maybe that's it. I don't really control her and have never used that class myself. I just put points in stuff and become occasionally awed when I walk up to a dragon and somebody behind me hits it for 30-40% of its health on the opening attack. I'm like...wtf did that?

turned out it was Sera (I thought Varric all along)

I meant more about sustained framerate. There wasn't much action going on in any of those shots.

I'm getting constant or near constant 60 FPS in this game with all settings dialed to the max, both in and out of battles. The only thing I have lowered is MSAA, which is set to 2x.

CPU is probably the biggest factor in sustaining 60 FPS, so an overclocked Core i5/i7 will give you the best results.

OHHHHHHH well that makes sense.

I just found out that David Gaider, the head writer for Dragon Age, is himself gay. So no wonder he's pushed an LGBT "agenda" with the Dragon Age games.

Yeah I've known for a long time David Gaider was gay. Even if he wasn't the head writer, I still think Bioware games would be rainbow friendly though. That's just the companies' stance, and has been for quite some time.

I don't have an issue with it, I just find it amusing that they would tailor their entire game World around political correctness.. And as much as I have a soft spot for Bioware, it can be nauseating at times.

Which is why I prefer the Witcher series. It's the antithesis of Dragon Age in practically every manner 😀

why is it "political correctness?"

Why isn't it the story that the writer wants to tell? Is that not OK with anyone anymore?

In contrast, the Witcher series is mostly sub-adult pseudo porn that really only appeals to teenagers. boobie cards? Really? how is that considered "adult"?

:\

Damn it. I knew I gave up on that game too early.

The only thing this comment explains is the men hair style in the game...

Because it's obvious that Bioware is pandering in a very "conscious" manner..

When Bioware first presented Dragon Age Origins, they said it was inspired by George RR Martin's ASoIF series. They may have said this, but the end result was so far from the GRRM's works, that I can't even take them seriously..

Anyway, like I said, I have no real problem with it and I'm enjoying the hell out of the game. But it's an interesting discussion nonetheless.. Bioware is the only major developer I know that will purposely tailor their games around the acceptance of LGBT, racial diversity, gender equality etcetera.. In juxtaposition, CDPR's the Witcher series seems much more visceral and authentic..

What you're describing was in the first Witcher. The sex scenes with Triss in the Witcher 2 are among the very best you can find in video games, and is handled maturely.

Sex scenes in Dragon Age Origins were absolutely cringe worthy however 😱

Weird, the game does not feel like any sort of pandering to me, just feels like the world they created and one that I really enjoy. Of course I hated The Witcher and found it extremely boring, so I guess the DA worlds just work better for me. I do love Game of Thrones though.

😀

I got the first boobie card, and that's about when I gave up. Said to myself: damn, this game is stupid in many ways.

(I still like them, and I like CDPR; but I just can't get into the Witcher games, despite a total of 40 hours effort between the two).

By the way: they are "authentic" to people that find the subject matter authentic; nothing more.

To each their own 😀 I like both the Dragon Age and Witcher series, but if I had to choose between them it would be the Witcher series all the way!

That said, DAI is major step up in quality for the series in nearly every aspect. My biggest criticisms center around lack of more A.I options, limited access to skills and of course, the wonky K&M implementation.

Heh, funny, I am the exact opposite. This is easily the worst of the three for me so far, though DA:I is still better than The Witcher. 😀

So was I until the Emerald Graves when a pitched battle dipped into the 30s/40s for a few seconds. This was with a 5930K @ 3.7GHz @ 1200p.

The first Witcher was way better than the first. Not only the cards (which in the uncut version have nipples and all) but you could get drunk and engage in some hilarious battles. They made 2 more serious and shorter. Meh.

I don't know if you observed that but every women in the game seem to have some kind of irritations... why do they all walk like that?

There are a couple cutscenes where Cassandra really works it nicely, with a womanly walk, but most the time, it looks like they just finished riding a horse for 8 hours. They usually walk like a guy.

Though let's be realistic here, the lack of female hair styles and poor walking isn't likely the result of the lead story teller.

Are you using the in game V-sync? It's buggy and can reduce performance from my experience.

Use the control panel version and your performance should improve..

Bioware games usually have average or below average animation quality..

You should have seen the running animations for FemShep in ME3 :awe:

Witcher 2 was great,I expect Witcher 3 to surpass DA:I with ease, won't take much especially with controls for keyboard and mouse 😉 .

Getting back to DA:I,I wonder how much DLC we will get and more important if it will be worth the price?

Yeah, female animations in general are horrible. And it stands out even more since the graphics are so good in general. I'm puzzled that they did not work on it. It seems like they just adopted Frostbite and borrowed art and that's it...

Well maybe I will try another Witcher again when that comes out, but the first one was pure tedium.

I hate DLC and don't think I have purchased any, aside from those GOTY packages or whatever which include everything.

I dont know, the "political correctness" in DA:I doesnt really bother me because it doesnt seem forced upon the player. One way or the other, I dont really care. It would be another situation if it was somehow essential to the progression of the story. But I just pretty much ignore it.

FWIW, just my opinions, as for DA vs Witcher I would rank them: DA:O, DA:I, DA2, W2 and W1. I never could get into the witcher games at all. It just seems like the games are trying too hard to be mature and morally ambiguous. I also hate the QTEs with a passion.

And BTW, I would rank KOTOR and Skyrim above any of the Dragon Age or Witcher games. Dont want to start a war, these are just my personal tastes.

It's creating a world that is in line with the "politically correct" view advocated by LGBT activists. Whether or not it's the story the writer wants to tell, that's the end result. That's what I mean by "LGBT agenda", it's creating a world that presents LGBT as normal and socially accepted, rather than where homosexuality is treated with apprehension at best and hatred at worst like it was in our world at a similar point in history.

"What I find most interesting is that, despite the lack of open discussion on matters of human sexuality, there is commonality to be found on the subject in all Andrastian lands. Typically, ones sexual habits are considered natural and separate from matters of procreation, and only among the nobility, where procreation involves issues of inheritance and the union of powerful families, is it considered of vital importance. Yet, even there, a noble who has done their duty to the family might be allowed to pursue their own sexual interests without raising eyebrows. The view on indulging lusts with a member of the same gender varies from land to land. In Orlais, it is considered a quirk of character and nothing more. In Ferelden, it is a matter of scandal if done indiscreetly but otherwise nothing noteworthy. In Tevinter, it is considered selfish and deviant behavior among nobles, but actively encouraged with favored slaves. Nowhere is it forbidden, and sex of any kind is only considered worthy of judgement when taken to awful excess or performed in the public eye.

-From In Pursuit of Knowledge: The Travels of a Chantry Scholar by Brother Genitivi"

If that's not underscored with the insinuation "THIS IS WHAT OUR WORLD SHOULD BE LIKE", I don't know what is. Note that Tevinter nobility are generally seen as corrupt and oppressive, so of course they would be homophobic.

You mean back when men and elves were casting magical spells and fighting dragons and ogres? That point in our history? 😀

Yes, I know it's a fantasy world. The thing is, those are simple things that exist in that world. Whether or not there are elves or ogres or Wookiees or giant space lasers in a story, I still want the characters to act in ways that real people might believably act if they were in such a world. Hostility towards homosexuality is a result of human psychology, the fear of something different than you. By essentially saying homophobia practically doesn't exist in Dragon Age, they're presenting an unrealistic view of psychology. It's politically correct at the expense of realism when it comes to character writing.

So, here's my response to people that get their panties in a wad over content they don't like in the entertainment that they enjoy:

Tough titties and get over it, Francis. No one is forcing an agenda down your throat. If it pisses you off that the writer's vision is outside of your sheltered comfort zone, then move along.

There are no rules that say: "fantasy world has to be like x." The only reason you think this way, is because you want it to be that way. Nothing more, nothing less.

they're presenting an unrealistic view of psychology. It's politically correct at the expense of realism when it comes to character writing.

This doesn't mean anything. Realism, when it comes to character writing, is creating the characters in the vision that the writer intends. It is whatever it is intended to be. Here is the subtext of what you are actually saying: "I don't want to see gays in my video games."
