I was using Sera as bow marksman, maxed out all the bow skills(my crafted bow for her was better then any purple drops in the entire game) and then went to the poison skills part, had Cassandra and sometimes Blackwell as my tanks especially when fighting dragons,Solas and the other mages I rotated now and then.

I finally finished the game at just over 120 hours,I'm not going back to the game yet, maybe after it's fully patched so that's probably another two patches at least.
I was amazed at how many purple dagger drops in this game, seems to favour the rogue more for drops.

Btw I actually gave up on romancing, option was there but the companions felt a bit hollow to me in general.
I'll say crafting is worth it because you can craft better weapons and gear then virtually all purple drops, especially later in game after you killed a few dragons or so.

Yeah, I have Sera at level 7 I think and she already is equipped with 2 purple daggers. None of my other characters have a single purple IIRC. It is kind of crazy but it's also part of the reason I put in her dual daggers; I got those drops early and figured I may as well make the most of them.

I was right about dagger drops,http://forum.bioware.com/topic/540013-dragon-age-dagger-should-be-the-namewtf/ ,sure a patch later will make that more balanced with drops.

Remember best weapons means crafting with higher tier materials.

Btw reason why I went bow with her because keeps her out of danger more often then if she goes melee ie dagger, the leap skills and cloak she has is quite fun even with her as a range combat character.

One thing I did find annoying with mouse and keyboard is how easy it is to loose track of mouse cursor in combat you spend some time trying to find your mouse cursor arrow in thick of things, maybe a different colour would help, but then we know mouse and keyboard was after thought.

Ahh, interesting. Have to make sure to hoard my Rogue purples! :awe:

I hate crafting. I was very close to just selling off all of my stupid crafting materials last night. Crafting in this just makes the game feel like an MMO, which is not a good thing.

Ok. I'm level 12 in crestwood playing on hard. How the freak do I kill this level 13 dragon ???? Most things near my level are easy to kill but this sucker is slaugthering me. I have my self (mage); solas; cass and cole. I have solas casting mind stuff since this dragon is vulnerable to mind spells but it just doesn't wanna die :(

Dragons are the toughest mobs in the entire game and that includes storyline,I normally try and go up a few levels above dragon if it's too hard,I normally use two tanks and two mages that can cast barrier etc, good gear also helps, later in game you can have health regen potions and extra four health potions giving you 12 heal potions, rock potions to boost armour as well.

Remember you can go back to dragons later, they will always be there.

I dont really bother with the romance options at all. I am male, but somehow enjoy playing as a female character, so it feels a bit weird to romance another guy or a woman. Anyway, the romance just seems stiff and artificial no matter what.

I guess they can seem stiff and artificial, but I enjoy them anyways. BioWare romances have come a long way since Bastila in KOTOR, that's for sure. Even when I play as a female character, I'm fine romancing guys. One of my favorite, most natural-feeling romances is the Kaidan/FemShep romance in ME3.

According to my savegame i'm 33 hours in so it's easier to comment the game now. I'm not that far in the main plot, only just discovered Skyhold and did a few quests there.

First thing I must say: best freaking RPG I played in 2014. Not perfect but really well done and immersive.

I only explored The Hinterlands, Storm Coast, Forbidden Desert and Farrow Mire and i'm now halfway through Crestwood. I really like how each zones are unique and their respective side quests are really thematic to their zone. I also like how they integrated the Rifts. I feared they'd be as boring as Oblivion gates but I think they blend well in the game.

The best moment so far for me is
all the journey from the first time you hear about the Elder One that leads too closing the Breach, meeting the Elder one in person, being stuck in the mountains and having to find your way back to your crew and when you finally discover Skyhold. I really like how intense this part of the game was, a nicely done interlude.

A couple of gripes I have:

#1: Voice acting. Not the worst but definitely could have been a lot better. Sometimes the characters sounds like retarded robots.

#2: Zone levels. Not really a gripe but I would have made the zone levels more clear. I don't really mind unlocking a zone and realizing i'm underleveled for it but I would have been mad if I had not enough Power after unlocking a new high level zone.

My current group:

- Me as the Tank (S&S)
- Iron Bull 2H DPS
- Varric Ranged DPS
- Dorian DPS (Fire/Lightning)

I'm gonna switch Varric for Sera when I find/craft her a good bow but I like Varric as a character...and Sera seems a bit over the top...

And i'm trying to seduce Josephine lol...

Overall, best RPG experience I had in 2014.

I agree on some of the voice acting. I think I've heard at least a few French-Canadian accents, which are awful and they make me never want to talk to those characters.

I would not worry about power points for war room, think I had about 340 spare at the end of game with all the map done, those requisition ones are not important so don't go mad on them, better saving the stuff for crafting etc, infact some were bugged.

I did unlock some areas that were too high for me but went back later.

Also all the resources respawn,ie if leave the area and then go back, so you never really run out of resource material.

Do you mean Mighty Damage (Ofensive?)Tonic? Lightning tonics are just for defense. My current rogue is a Tempest Archer, like Sera. I've killed a couple dragons on nightmare almost immediately after popping the Mighty Damage Tonic. It's crazy damage for sure. Likely a higher focus damage than if you used daggers, since all your hits are based off your base weapon damage, which is much higher with bows.

Though for normal group combat, assassin is pretty good, but against bosses, Tempest owns assassin.

Cole is the spirit guy. I haven't used him much.

yeah, it has a lightning bolt on it, and says "lightning" something...in the Tempest tree. I never can recall the name of that class.

as for the weapon drops:

--I've definitely seen far more purple daggers than anything else. Almost 3:1 compared to other drops.

In this order, I am overloaded after my first playthrough:

--Daggers
--Bows
--Two-handed weapons.

My Inquisitor was a one-handed/shield warrior, so this was rather annoying.

Question about the War Room map: The zones with the "rift" above them are main quest related?

Cause I remember early in the game when you have the option to save the mages, there was another quest with a "rift" above it...after I completed one, the other disappeared...didn't really know why lol

Yep. At that point you had to choose to go with the Mages or the Templars and it gave a warning that once you made the choice, the other side was no longer available so, poof, it disappeared from the map.

Oh, you are talking about the Flask of Lightning, but you can't use a Thousand Cuts with Lightning Flask, at least my game prevents me from doing it, not that it increases the damage a thousand cuts does. It just slows down time so you have uninterrupted damage time.

What really makes a Thousand Cuts insane is improving Mighty Offense tonic. It adds 58 damage to your base weapon damage.

just started playing dai last week, and while the game seems very good, the kbm controls are absolutely awful. anyone have any idea when they'll fix or add more options for kbm?

Here are some 1440p screenshots showing the awesome graphics in this game, focusing on the draw distance, shadows and ambient occlusion. Really great to be sure. And the engine is very efficient with resources using around 3GB of VRAM and 3GB of RAM.

I really wonder how AC Unity would have looked like if Ubisoft had used the Frostbite 3 engine for it.. Would the LoD issues get better or worse? Better if DAI is any indication, but as I said before, even DAI isn't rendering as much detail as AC Unity..

If past Bioware games are an indication, do not expect much change. You do get used to it. The only thing that I don't think I could have gotten used to was fixed in the patch (in tactical mode, holding the right mouse button and moving right and left now strafes, instead of turns). I'd like tactical mode to start in the previously used camera angle when pressed, which seems possible, but I wouldn't expect much else to change. Bioware has done some pretty wonky UI controls in the past, and they never changed them, except for minor tweaks.

I think party AI and the lack of individual hold options, is a bigger issue, to be honest.

OHHHHHHH well that makes sense.

I just found out that David Gaider, the head writer for Dragon Age, is himself gay. So no wonder he's pushed an LGBT "agenda" with the Dragon Age games.

Look at the pictures, they all show Fraps in the corner. It appears he has V-sync on with a 60hz monitor, as they all show between 59-61 FPS.

I meant more about sustained framerate. There wasn't much action going on in any of those shots.

Weird, I have not seen this "agenda". :hmm:

One thing I didn't really appreciate was the way the transgender character, Krem, was presented. If you want to include a trans character, fine. But there's one conversation with Bull and Krem which basically could have started with "We're now going to preach to you about trans people". No thanks.

I knew something was "different" about Krem, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Now it all makes sense

I'll do the romances, but I definitely don't obsess or care overmuch about them.. From all reports though, the romances in DAI are FAR superior to the ones found in previous Bioware games..

Right now, my character is romancing Cassandra, Josephine and even that dwarf female. Eventually I will have to choose between one of the three, and it will be Cassandra.

If I ever do another play through again, I'll play a female mage and will likely romance Cullen.
