Hair detail on low settings was bugged before Patch 2, so that may not be an accurate comparison anymore.

I remember the bug issue, but still looks better on ultra settings after patch either way.

I'm sure it does, either way. Hair quality is tied to "Mesh", and there's supposedly a pretty big difference in overall quality between mesh on high and medium.

Skin and hair both look great on ultra 2xMSAA, but obviously it's somewhat hardware dependent. And depends what hairstyle you choose. My Dalish elf inquisitor has very short hair, but it looks realistic, as do his scars and tattoos.

It's only when she's standing a certain way and in certain areas. It's not the end of the world; it's just kind of funny and part of the overall terrible look of my character that I wish I could change.

I had to restart the intro 3 times because the character looked ok in the creator, but once it got into the game it looked like a mutant.

Ah cool, glad to know I am not alone. Guess I should have restarted, but I really had spent so much time already, I wanted to actually play some game.

MSAA does not seem worth the performance hit, though.

I don't notice any performance hit (unless playing with Nvidia surround, in which case I turn it off). I'm sure it's hardware dependent though.

That just meant your were bottlenecked in some way. Due to V-sync, or CPU. All the benchmarks show a big performance hit.

The problem I have with MSAA is that it doesn't help with most jaggies on clothing and various objects, except on their outer edges.

TotalBiscuit found that MSAA incurred a significant performance hit even on his SLI'd 980s. But if you don't notice a difference, I guess that's all you can ask for.

I really doubt he's CPU bottlenecked on 4.5 GHz 2500K...

He mentioned surround caused a hit, but not a single screen, which would suggest he's at very high FPS, and every CPU hits a limit if your FPS are high enough.
Doubtful.

The game is more GPU bottlenecked than CPU bottlenecked.

I don't know what to tell you guys. I believe all of the reviewers and the stats/charts, but I don't notice a big hit with MSAA on or off at Ultra using a single screen. To be fair though, I don't really care about FPS because it never dips low enough to matter. There's certainly no slowdown in overall performance or screen tearing or any lag or big dip in FPS. So I just left it on because the game is prettier with it on.

Well then, that is different than saying you have no hit. You are just saying that you can't notice it without a FPS meter.

Fair enough. But I think that for most gamers, that's the same thing as no hit. Let's go with "nothing noticeable" and call it a day?

The thing is, if you didn't have such high FPS, like when you are running in surround, it is quite noticeable.

wth. I'm on the as your heart burns mission. It says appropriate for levels 8-11. I am 11. I am getting f**king schooled over and over and over on the "aim trebuchet". I simply have no potions left, all supply caskets empty. I have iron bull plus two mages and varric, which have proved an utterly devestating combo before this against absolutely everything but dragons, but I make about 1/3rd through aiming and regardless of tactics I'm getting completely ruined.

Evidently after the aim trebuchet there is a boss (!). I can't even make it through the subfights.

EDIT: Crap, I think solas was on lightning staff the whole time and the bad guys in these fights are basically immune to that.

You may have to start over, but here are a few tips:
1) There are 3 (maybe more) potion caches through out the zone. One near the requisition table, another by the alchemist, and one by that trebuchet. Try not to use them earlier in the mission so you can restock during the trebuchet fight.
2) Don't turn the aiming wheel all at once. Just turn it until you see red dots on your radar, stop and deal with the enemy a little at a time, so you do not get over run.
3) Once the boss shows up, there are no more waves of enemy that will come. It is quite possible to distract the enemy while one of your characters finishes the aiming.

I killed my first dragon at level 12,
the Hinterlands one
. I tried at level 10 and 11 but couldn't do shit and never got the beast down 25% in HP. I was with Cassandra, Varric and Solas at that time.

When I got Iron Bull I switch Cass for him and also switched Solas for Dorian (but I think i'll bring back Solas).

So I went to that dragon in the spoiler tag at level 12 (as a S&S Tank) with Iron Bull (2H DPS), Varric (Ranged DPS with some sthealth stuff) and Dorian (in full Fire mage DPS mode). This time it went like a charm. Not an easy fight but went very well. Took about 10 minutes to down the thing and it was really satisfying. But two characters died during the combat.

I also killed my second dragon yesterday in
Crestwood
, this onw was not easy either and everyone died except Iron Bull that landed the final blow, it was awesome!

I know I should get other potions and maybe the upgrade to 3 potions carried/more potions but I always equip the Health Potion and the Regeneration Potion on all characters. Can't go out without them I guess. The Regen potion is very useful when your charcaters are at 50% HP, you pause and pop one on each low health characters and resume the fight.

Thing is, I found out I freaking HATE the "before combat prep" in these games. Popping some DPA boosting potions, some spells and go in...dunno but I find it boring as hell. Reminds me of my favorite class in the NWN series, the Cleric...but to be good and effective I had to cast 5-6 spells on the groups before going in, everytime, and then rest. It was mind dumbing and boring...but I loved the class lol.

So I tend to just bring HP/Regen potions and pop them when I need to.

How do you use regen potions on followers? I have been trying to figure out how to do that, but can only get my primary character to use them.
