Down goes Hagee!!

Has yet to show up on the net, guess I will have to wait.

At least this will end all those stupid Hagee threads.

Coincidence that this happened the same day Obama began campaigning in Florida for general election support among Jews?

Why should it? You are still posting about Wright?
You still don't see the difference between going to someone's church for 20 years, having him preside over your marriage and inviting him to give the opening prayer at your Presidential campaign announcement and receiving a political endorsement from someone who you otherwise have little to no connection with?

Just the other day he was saying he was glad to have his endorsement. And this was well after Hagee's statement about the Catholic church. I guess the Hitler comments sent McCain over the edge. He should have never accepted his endorsement. That said, McCain needs better advice from his handlers.

You don't see the difference between attending a neighborhood church and actively seeking the endorsement of someone that you called people like this person an "agent of intolerance" because you knew of their past hate speech?

Of course. Obama is a (D) so it's much worse.

Well, I can see it all now, Wright and Hagee will kiss and make up and jointly denounce McCain and Obama in the name of religious freedom. When the lion lies down with the lamb. Meanwhile, political correctness wins again.

Hey, if you can believe in snakes giving apples to human females who were in turn were made from the ribs of males, the curious back lookers being turned into pillars of salt, and a host of other incredulous thing best taken on blind religious faith, why should religious leaders be restricted from commenting on the political arena? Why should various dubious assumption about human nature and scientific fact, or if you prefer, out right lying, be only the monopoly of politicians when they become more political than religious?

And when it comes to religious leaders, we should not examine their over all body of work, we must cherry pick the worst out of context messages they ever uttered, and in the proud tradition of Judas, deny ever knowing them, and then immediately throw them under the nearest bus. But when it comes to politicians, we should not apply the same standards.

Having said all that, I now in solidarity with Hagee, and I will both double and quadruple all previous monetary contributions I have ever made to him.

"Then god sent a hunter. A hunter is someone with a gun and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter. And the Bible says -- Jeremiah writing -- 'They shall hunt them from every mountain and from every hill and from the holes of the rocks,' meaning there's no place to hide. And that might be offensive to some people but don't let your heart be offended. I didn't write it, Jeremiah wrote it. It was the truth and it is the truth. How did it happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said my top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel."

Seems pretty in line with general evangelical beliefs.

Nice post!

To the bolded: 0 x 2 x 4 = 0? If so I'll do the same!

Took McCain a few days. Took Obama 20 years.

+1 for McCain.

Wrong because McCain denounced Hagee then sought his support then denounced him only after scrutiny.

-1 for McCain.

Is the Jewish community upset over Hagee's Hitler remarks?

Honest question, I haven't seen any thing about that yet. Have you?

I can can say for one I found the comments pretty disturbing, although not particularly surprising given what I previously knew about Hagee.

Its safe to say quite a few Jews are going to be disturbed by the comments as they become aware of them, and McCain decided it was time to cut his loses. The comments may make some Jews that had been getting closer to members of the evangelical right due to their support of Israel more wary of them because it bring up what the motivations of these evangelicals may be. (I.E. its not about the good of the Jews, its about bringing about a biblical prophecy and armagedon.)

I believe this story just broke a few days ago. McCain sought Hagee's support well before this came to light. You lose.

Hagee has been spouting this stuff since the early 1990's. Its very well known and republican swiftboaters had to scour Wright's sermons for a few cherry picked statements. Only when Wright defended his right to set the record straight that triggered the Obama rejection.

Overall score

Obama -1
McCain -1

You mean like how liberals scoured through Hagee's sermon to find only one snippet from one of the biggest Israel supporters in the United States?
