Dow Drops 200 pts.

I didn't think people would react that bad to it. I wouldnt call the market unstable right now, but to watch US jump like that is frightening. Think what would happen if something much more important happens to our market.
 
I'm a currency trader, but I did see the value of the USD drop like a hammer around the open of the NYSE.
Thank god for shorting 🙂

hmm yeah i lost money. but im in it for the long haul. i try not to look dialy or i would go nuts. I know i am up a lot over when i started
 
I invested in a lot of stocks and mutual funds in August of 2001. As one might imagine, I lost my ass shortly thereafter. Thankfully, I was investing for long-term purposes, so I still hold the same investments.

Given that I watched half of the money I invested vaporize overnight in September of that year, I have taught myself not to watch the market too closely. I check in from time to time, and listen to what my financial advisor tells me about my investments, but try not to panic when the market fluctuates.

I'm the same way. Mine bounces up and down too much, I'd have a coronary if I watched it too often.
 
If you've got a good portfolio, your losses shouldn't be too big. If you dumped all of your money into one part of the market, then yes it's prone to huge losses.

Not really concerned. The market is overreacting. I am for the long haul, no so worries for me. At least I received $350 in dividends today.
