What does that have to do with what I wrote though?

Sorry I guess I thought you were talking about the stock market when you said "the absolute chaotic incompetence on display here from his administration can’t be helping.".

If its not, what isnt it helping?

But....the economy HASNT crashed. Stock market != the economy. At least in my mind, I look at market corrections as better for my bottom line using dollar cost averaging.

Now, if unemployment and/or inflation had risen to double digits, that would be a different discussion.

You probably said the same thing in October of 2007-

Here's the look Kudlow gives us when he's trying to gauge how much bullshit we'll swallow-

Don't want to do anything to bust the budget because they already did that with tax cuts for the Rich...

It’s not helping the stock market.

Do you think having a totally non-credible administration helps or hurts the stock market, all things being equal?

In this specific example (investing and the stock market) its not a conservative or liberal thing. Its an individual thing. Its no one's but ourselves responsibility.

The topic at hand is a lot broader than that. Extreme market swings are a feature of poorly regulated Capitalism. It's what happens when the GOP gets to run things.

Oh I got that. So Ill ask again. What POTUS has taken responsibility for negative things? Hasnt EVERY POTUS taken credit for good things? Ever watch a SOTU address from any other President?

Oh good, took long enough.

Many but let's start with the last one. They also take credit for things and brag. Trump is different though... His brain is Abbey Normal.

The economy was rocky mostly due to the rise of unemployment due to the housing crash...twice that of the tech crash in the early 2000's. Inflation remained low though through both events.

The thing that didnt change during both those events? I put away the same amount of money every month (when I was employed that is...had 3 layoffs in 2 year 2002-2004).

Im not quite sure what the rest of your dribble is about though.

edit: for the 2007 crash, theres no one really to blame. That mess was the collective responsibility of the world's central banks, homeowners, lenders, credit rating agencies, underwriters, and investors.

Usually it hurts. In the 3 years Trump has been in office, Ive earned more percentage-wise than 3 of my top years in the Obama administration. And my investments really havent changed much.

Ah yes the tried and true excuse of yeah others have done it but not like Trump!

mmmmkay. So?

So youre saying this recent market crash is due to that?

It encourages risk taking & creates fragility. It was already ripe for a fall when the FRB intervened in the repo market last September. Coronavirus just started the avalanche waiting to happen.

You know, although we disagree on many things, I always though you an intelligent man. Now, however, I see you for what you really are. A tile in the left's echo chamber doing nothing but fear-mongering.

If you honestly think Trump had ANY part of this crash, you know ZERO about this event.

You probably thought Bush caused the housing meltdown too, right?

LOL

No, Trump just exhausted all the levers we should have saved to combat a recession, in order to keep the market from tumbling earlier because his ego can't handle the economy tanking under his watch. Oh and btw he cut funding to the CDC limiting their ability to deal with a problem like covid-19.

Having a billion test kits wouldnt have stopped the crash. That's not AT ALL why it crashed.

He signed the budget busting tax cuts that flooded markets with hot money chasing returns that weren't there in the first place. It's the same thing that happened with the Bush taxcuts & the housing bubble. It's just a different credit bubble. Our politicized FRB has extended & pretended that the business cycle no longer exists for as long as they could until they have no effective options left to play. Now he tweeted that it's all about the oil, even though that hadn't happened until after the markets were already in turmoil over the coronavirus.

The GOP always drives the economy like they stole it, which apparently they have, again.
