I am having the same problem here with IE6 on the subscriber server. Happens almost every post now.

I'm also using IE 6 on the subscriber servers and occasionally (maybe 3-4 times a week) my replies get screwed up.

However I have a fix!

My subscription runs out in 9 days 🙁

Don't worry, it happens over here on the non-subscriber side. :frown:

Now I pretty much DP every post, no matter the circumstances....I don't get an error screen anymore, I just DP every time.

You're kidding me? I thought it only affected the subscriber server?

Argh!

Those on subscriber servers let me know if you run into the issue still just stabbing in the dark at various things here..as again no errors anywhere and i mean anywhere.. Very odd issue.

Reliant, I think we're clear on your issues... just hang tight, thanks. Try a different browser as it seems this is a mainly an IE issue so far. Let us know how that goes.

Wasn't trying to be pushing, but the problem changed, so I tried to inform you.

Ya no problem, problem is the same reliant it's all the same issue it's just unclear right now what exactly it is.. so it will take quite a while i think to find it.

I have not had it happen to me since the day before yesterday. (10/22/03). I am on the non-subscriber server running IE6, over XP SP1.

I have never had this happen to me. I post almost exclusively on IE6 and Win2000 on the non-subscriber forums. About half of my posts are using quick reply and the other half are quoting. Neither the T1 at work or DSL at home have problems.

I started having problems with the Quick Reply feature sometime betwee early on 10-24 when eveything was working fine and early on 10-25 when things started screwing up. My situation is similar to the above posters but not identical.

-When I hit the "Reply" button on the Quick Reply box my browser locks up. (I use Firebird, not IE) The throbber keeps moving, signifying that it's trying to do something but if I hit the "stop" or "back" buttons the browser will lock completely and I have to shut id down and restart. The posts are going through just fine, it just hangs the browser. Sounds very similar to the above problem with a little Firebird uniquiness thrown in for good measure. BTW, I'm a subscriber. Please note that this only started happening to me after Zuni made whatever experimental changes he made to fix the problem on the afternoon of 10-24.

Ral, your issue could just be a buggy browser as firebird is less than stable at this time. The only change i made was to remove http compression so if that blew up firebird it has some serious issues.. I just put another change in on the redirect of the post form to see what that does, feedback welcome.

I've started having the problem since yesterday. Here's the error: pic

Win2k, IE 6.0.2800.1106

Replies post, but I get the error instead of being redirected back to the thread.

I've run several tests and this is most definitely a client to server issue somewhere, it is not server or forum related. What it is I have no idea as it is not reproducable anywhere on several machines here...all different IE and NS testing I've done as revealed nothing. It's obvious this happens on a few but no were near alll, so until I can see it happening and run some diags on the test cases it'll remain unsolved. I did put in some more test stuff this morning, we'll see if that turns up anything.

I tend to quote, or reply and use the back button often on the latest patched IE 6, wasn't happening last night when I was on, so the change had to have happend around/after the time change, I know it's a drag, but the forum software may have had a glitch, that is causing this, and It doesn't happen on the main anandtech.com page. The problem only happens when I use the back button on the forums. Think you guys can pick a low usage time and bounce the server running the forum to see if that fixes the problem?

edit: wonder if the solar storms have anything to do with this? I heard there where some minor power fluctionations in our power grid today around noon.

I'm having a new strange issue.

Several times today and tonight (Sunday) after replying to a message, it would not let me use the back button. If I hit the back button, it would go nowhere, just the same page over and over.

Its on the non-subscriber side, and IE6

If the back button does take me somewhere it is to a "page expired" error.

Zuni,

Just so you know.

I'm a subscriber, using IE on XP Home (home) and W2K (work), I haven't had any reply errors for about a week now.

I just got it twice in OT; post a reply to a thread, and it immediately said "page not found". I hit back, pressed reply again, and got the same thing. They did in fact both go through - got a double post.
Using WinXP SP1, with all latest critical updates from Windowsupdate.
IE 6 SP1, version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 (what ever happened to simplistic versions like "6.2"???)
Cable modem with Dlink DI-704 router
This is the first time I've gotten this error; only a week after a fresh install of Windows too.

Edit: Just got the quick "page not found" while updating my System Rigs page. It did in fact send the updated info to the Anandtech servers, but it simply gave me the usual Windows page-not-found error.

Zuni,

Have you checked the timestamp on the servers? When I clear my cache & cookies and log onto AT the time comes back behind. In other words normally the time matches the setting on the PC at the time. That could be causing a pre-mature TTL.

Edit: Pretty sure this is it. The expiry comes up 2037 and the time is 2 hrs 20 mins behind. Between the two factors no wonder postings are running wild.

I would set the expiry for maybe two years out and sync the time up with the Navy atomic clock.
Hope that straightens everything out, now if could just get PM's.
