What about the year expiry?

I've never seen a server send out a time out so many years before. 35 years? There may be some equipment between the AT servers and the End Users that cannot handle such a bump out in years. Just a thought. Can you change the year expiry and see what happens???

I haven't experienced any problems. Might want to check up with the forum regulars like RossMAN, NFS4, ElFenix, Notfred, Shady06 (50 post count average/day), SKoorb, Adul, etc.

Oh yeah, have you ever thought about using a script that only allows the reply button to be pressed once? This way you can help reduce the number of people pressing it twice by mistake and truly compare the double posts from the server's side of things.

I know I have seen that javascript either at javascript.internet.com or dynamicdrive.com

If you can't find it at either and still want it, PM me and I'll see if I can find it.

The only problem that causes is that if the "server has an error" (well, in most/all cases it isn't the server, but rather my connection), and I have to go back and attempt to post again, I have to cut the post, paste it into notepad to make sure I don't loose it, then back up, click reply again, re-paste and attempt to post again (which may not work, in which case I have to rinse and repeat). I don't think my problem is with your servers at all, but implementing the Javascript would make life harder for people with unreliable dialup connections. Of course, I don't expect that many will care about the issues that a few others and myself would face, since most people here are on broadband and it won't affect them. Nevermind, then...

Im running Firebird on XP and have only had this problem a fewtimes (Althought ive managed to catch it and not DP). What i have also been getting are some page formation problems where i just end up with a page of code, maybe this is what you guys would get if IE didnt send out an error screen?

Quick description of what just happened with the double posting thing when I hit reply:
Nothing.

I clicked reply to a thread, and the page did nothing (except switch the focus to the Reply button). So, I opened a new window, and clicked refresh there. My post did in fact go through, and it showed up there, in the thread, in its entirety.
Clicking reply in the original IE reply window then resulted in the usual process - reload the thread page, with my duplicate replies.
No idea if this helps at all (probably not) but it's simply what I observed today.

I've been hitting other forums that have the same forum software (chubby bi-fold) and don't have one single problem. so how can this be a client issue when it only happens on the AT forums? although they use version 2.1. could it be a software issue with fusetalk?

Just wondering, does this only happen in IE?

EDIT: It double-posts if you hold the Submit button or your Enter button too long so it seems to me. And/or double click the Submit button.

I just had this happen to me in Off Topic not using quick reply IE6 but - I posted and a couple of minutes later went back and there was only one copy of my post and one copy of a post made after mine. When I went back about 30 minutes later there were 2 copies of each of our posts.

Where is this quick reply feature?

Question: How many of you people with double-posting problems have used the tweak to increase the number of simultaneous connections Windows lets you make? We had a thread about this a while back and quite a few members including myself made the tweak.

In my experience that tweak semi-regularly causes broken connections to HTTP servers - it could be the culprit.

An MS Technet article on the issue: INFO: WinInet Limits Connections Per Server

I have just noticed it in this post too
Link

Interestingly when Aceshigh double posted it didn't update the number of posts, the last poster or last post time on the thread.
At the time of posting there are currently 5 replies to the thread, but the forums are reporting it as 3 replies.

Now it's happening every time I post (so far today). Not using quick reply, using IE6, not getting any error messages. Everything reacts just as it used to when I hit "reply to topic" but I wind up with a double post. Very annoying. Already twice today - let's see if I can make it 3 for 3.

edit: so far so good. Now I'll try editing and see what happens. Still only one.

edit: I give up! This one is fine and the one I just made in Hot Deals is still single but two earlier posts came out double.

edit: just posted in OT and it showed up 4 times! Maybe it's trying to tell me something.

I already asked that back on the 1st page. A couple responses to the negative so it's something else.
