i have to eat before Lortabs. If not, I get very sick.

Wasn't being noble, just didn't need them just yet.

Oh, and I slept about 1 hour last night and I'm typing standing up (can't sit just yet).

Hey man, just stopped by to wish you well. Get yourself on a schedule on those pain meds and food, set a timer for it. I have not had surgery yet, but my wife has had several and being late with a pain med is a bad time.

when the fecal matter rubs up against the open wounds, it's hell on earth. it's worse if there are chunks such as corn and nuts dragging across the wound. the best way to describe it, if you want to experience similar pain, is to handle habaneros with your bare hands, then rub your eyes

The 1st day was suprisingly not that painful. However, Saturday night into Sunday was pure misery and Sunday night into Monday somewhat better. Hopefully, a day or so from now will see a great easing of the pain.

I had an inguinal hernia repair about six years ago. It was bad enough that I had to frequently push the intestines back through the hole.

I remember surgery in the morning, I got right up and dressed myself but they put me in a damn wheelchair for the trip out to the car, walking around in the afternoon, sleeping with an ice-pack over my nuts the first couple of nights. Walked into the doctors office 4 days later for the post-op exam. I think it was around 10 days that I pulled the stitches myself. The first night I took a couple of Tylenol, but I never took the good stuff they gave me.

I remember kicking myself for not doing it sooner, I hadn't realized how much that tear had impacted my life and how little of a deal the repair would be. To this day I regularly lift weights and there are no issues.

Wow, just looked at the insurance claims (3 so far) and they total ***** $14,300 *****!!! :shocked:

All for an hour of prep, two hours of surgery, and one hour of recovery!!!

Looks like they told me wrong when they said my part would be $1,100 (I have $600 deductible and 80/20 after that and I understand that insurance will cut this down but I can't see it being cut that much).

If you have a decent person in HR tell them about it. They're technically supposed to help with this sort of thing, not that many do though.

Call your HR person. My bill for an overnight in the hospital, several IVs, and a camera in my stomach was $20.

Does your policy have an out of pocket maximum per calendar year?

Aetna.

The deductible is $600 and 80/20 after that with a $3,000 maximum out of pocket each year.

All of the $15,000+ charges are "In Process" or "More Info Requested" and have been since they appeared nearly 9 weeks ago.

As for HR, it's non-existent for all practical purposes as my company has fired so many people (automotive) that I'm not sure who to even contact at this point.

I may call Aetna later this week and see what the hell is going on.

I just love insurance.....two of the 5 claims have been 100% denied so far. State that they did not receive enough information from the provider. Insurance is a crock of shit. You pay your premiums and they do their damnest not pay a cent.

They ask me if I wanted them to ask the provider again for the information? WTF? No, I don't want you to pay the $12,000 worth of denied claims....just let it go!! (sarcasm).

I've had that happen (denied claims because they wanted more info) and then a few weeks later I get another letter saying its processing again. I've never been concerned (although I've never had 15k of claims)
