Good luck. I had double hernia surgery two years ago, and aside from spending two days in bed and another two moving slowly around the house afterward, it wasn't bad at all.

Remember to pat the nurses on the ass before you go under...it MIGHT be your last chance! :D

I hate that "Count backwards from 100" crap. When I had my knee surgery, I got into the 70's before I went out...:|

I wanted to be that guy..."3...2...1...0...OK Doc, what's next?"

I had a lower inguinal hernia, left side. I let it get bad before surgery.

Days before the surgery, I was having to push my lower intestines up out of my ball sack and back into my stomache. fun times.

Recovery before walking was about 5 days.

Ouch, lol.

The pain medication "soaker" tube is a blessing. The navel hernia is another story though!

I'm done and home. Went in at 6:30. Surgery at 7:30. Recovery at 9:30. Released at 11:00. Home by 11:30. Sleep until now. Walking and eating (per doctors orders now).

If you woke up...you won.

Now comes the recuperation part. Just take things E-A-S-Y for a few days.

Don't try to be noble...suck it up and take the dammed pain pills...at least for the first couple of days.
I can't take hydrocodone unless I take it with one or two benadryl...I get a pretty nasty allergic reaction to the stuff. :(

But oxycontin takes care of the pain for me with no itches and hives...:D

As bad as it might be, it's probably not as bad as hemorrhoid surgery. I won't even describe what it was like taking a dump for the first week...
