Doom3 is too dark...

For those of you whining about the excessive darkness of Doom3, let's close this once and for all! So here is the news:
USE THE GODDAMN FLASHLIGHT!
It was the the game's creators intention! The game is supposed to be scary and challenging - having to switch quickly from a flashlight to a weapon is supposed to add some difficulty to the game, and it does! The monsters ought to have some dark spots to hide in, which is especially important in close quarters combat - otherwise it would look more like an old point and game for kids!
In the rooms where the light is on, in some mysterious way Doom3 is suddenly not too dark! Why is that? BECAUSE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SO!
So don't try to set high gamma settings - it won't help!!!!

I agree with the topic of this thread, but I do agree that there are plenty of other D3 threads that this could be voiced in.....

Come on people, stop criticizing the placement of my remark. It's not so important where my message resides. The one extra thread doesn't cost anybody a buck, it doesn't come at night and bite you, it simply doesn't matter!

We have commented on the bloody content, many times before.
There is no need for this thread because what you say HAS BEEN SAID BEFORE AND TALKED ABOUT BEFORE.

The message may also cost Anandtech a buck, as they have to host it, and it's just a waste of space, because it says nothing new.

This was already put to rest, but you just woke it out of a sound slumber. Good Job.

Well, so long as the subject got its own sticky, its far from out of sight. Its always there, poking at the membrane.

It means that the mods are tired of seeing threads like this one discussing the same thing over and over, so they have selected one thread to represent all of them.

It is located at the top of the page, and will not move down until the mods unsticky it.

Please refer to the very first thread in this forum. Notice it has a little clock icon over the folder.
Occasionally, I assume, a topic is considered timely, all consuming, or important enough to qualify by the moderators a "sticky" which keeps it on top for a indefinite amount of time.
You, being new here, made the honest mistake of jumping on to a subject that has been post to death, but apparently is still worth talking about as no one will drop it. You unfortuantely threw a pebble into the hornet's nest and woke up all the grumps that inhabit this forum and spend all day responding to posts, they know they don't even really need to respond to as it will die anyway, so they can write, "REPOST", "This is dumb", "Wrong forum", "are you a retard?", etc., etc. The thread at the top was designed to consolidate all the insightful thoughts on Doom 3's lack of light bulbs so the video forum could be kept tidy.
You see, this has been building up for a long time. For the last couple of years, visiting this forum has been like riding on a long trip to an amusment park with a bunch of kids in the back seat. It has been non-stop posts of, "When will Doom 3 be out?", "Anyone know when Doom 3 will get here?", "Why is Doom 3 taking so long!". Along the way to Doom 3 world, we also got tons of, "Will my system handle Doom 3?" "Is Ati or Nvidia better for Doom 3?" "Do you really need 3 gigs of ram and a 4 gig processor to run Doom 3 in High Quality mode?", on and on, non-stop questions about Doom 3.
Then, we finally get to Doom 3 World. After waiting all these years and spending many dollars on upgrades to get here, now it's, "This game sux!", "I can't kill the monsters with my flashlight!", "I can't believe I spent $50 on this game!", on and on.
Will it stop? Probalby not... there's always HL2 to get upset about so stay tuned.....
So in response to the not so kind remarks you got, everyone here is feeling a little let down that they finally arrived at Doom 3 and they didn't get the ride they were expecting. Don't let it drive you away.

hahahahahahahahahha Very true. I never understood the obsession with similar posts, because each thread contains different comments. It would be nice if they were consolidated, but it aint gonna kill me either. In fact, if you didn't open this thread I wouldn't have read your funny comeback.
