If you have an opinion by all means post it but keep in mind, dont go ranting and raving about something like this, back it up with good solid evidence, and resent both sides of your argument, Basic Journalism, presnet both sides or you are biased towards one. Remember you want to stay as objective as possible.

Also one thing that has been becoming more and more common is people critiquing something when they haven't played the game, before you start criticizing and flaming things please play the game!

or else just play with a tv out. tvs appear to display the game with less darkness. I've played most of the game with tv out and if I go back to the monitor, I get a headache.

It's not reality it's a *game* and it's that way for a reason. If everything was brightly lit it wouldn't be so scary. Just be happy they didn't put in a flashlight like in Halo where you could only use it so long before it went off.

And what did you expect? It's Doom3. You can go back several months and read my posts regarding D3 and you'll see I was not buying into the hype and my reasoning was I knew (expected) it would be full of dark indoor levels. Well it is but as it turns out I really enjoy it so far.

I think this is responsible for most of generic criticism, especially the FPS n00bs that think Doom3 'stole' Half-life's story by having some sort of army invading a remote military/scientific base using teleportation technology and plotting to eventually conquer the world unless the protagonist stops them.

Sure looks like there's one, esp. the front-angle shot in the manual. Maybe it's just broken, like half the UAC base.

See that's an opinion I can respect... you understand what the game is, and you don't like it. You don't just bitch about how dark it is. You say "I understand it's supposed to be dark, and it is, but I'd rather be in a more wide open and bright environment."

Then this game is absolutey, most positively not for you. Sell it. Same goes for anyone else. Sell your game for 40.00 so you only would have to pay 15.00 for the dissatisfaction of playing Doom3. LOL

Thanks man, however my thread contains a link that could take traffic (however small) away from AT's site. Thats why they stickied it for about 45 seconds then decided not to.

Its still there, it just needs bumps from time to time.

I am in total agreement with this statement. Gave us all a great idea of what to expect on our systems. And for those complaining; FPS generally get a little redundant by the end. I am finding this with far cry, am in the volcano and run like hell and shoot and than die.

Im very sorry you think my thread is crap. If you dont like it stop trolling then, OK. Good for Keys if it took him several hours, however i explained myself thorougly and the Anandtech Moderator said it was good and that he would sticky it.

Honestly though think about, if your a noob (im not saying you are), and you post a question but everyone is too busy answering the same f***ing qustion over and over again. Im tired of people just trolling around then experienced people that would do best putting their wisdom elsewhere flaming them. Its pointless.

I agree however that most of the people who post like this usually haven't played the game, cant appreciate it because they weren't around for the original doom, or turn the settings down to minimum and then say it looks like crap.

If people would take a step back and look at some of this it is trivial, and also for those bashing far cry and DIII i would LOVE to see you try to make an engine... both games are awesome.

One thing i think would solve a couple of problems is on the easiest difficulty settings have the flashlight attached to the gun and on harder difficulty settings have it seperate.
