Doom Beta Benchmarks (GameGPU)

So did they stare at a wall or something? This was during the main menu, right? 60fps is pretty good for a menu rendering, but I want to know how the game runs.

Seriously, watch what happens during the game. You walk down a narrow hallway, get 60FPS, turn a corner with some open space and stuff going on and WHABAM! 35fps.

It's pretty obvious. The hwc even goes to OCN to bash AMD and get into it with amd fans. Proof? You come across like a fanboy. You need an affadavit from the hwc or something??

I think we're done here. Let's get back to discussing Doom beta benchmarks.

Shifting back on topic...I am shocked at how badly written this game seems to be. No SLI support and the game is harsh on most PC GPUs despite not really looking all that great.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is the superior multiplayer shooter (just plain more fun to play) & it's double weapon XP/double XP weekend. The Doom MP beta is not worth any more of my gaming time.

I still have high hopes for the SP campaign...but that's because I am a rabid, unabashed Doom fanboy.

Surprised performance isn't better. Other 60 FPS console titles, Battlefront comes to mind, easily hit 60 on PC as well. Although, that wasn't really true for Wolfenstein: The New Order, also an id tech game. Still, it's usually the 30 FPS console games that can be a problem.

Again, calling a website a "shill site" is an extremely strong accusation. Do you have any proof?

And, no, I don't like to pick fights, but when I see people trying to trash the reputation of a website that's probably run by people who are just trying to do their best, I demand more evidence than simply, "I don't like what they have to say, they are shills!"

I'm not sure whether SKYMTL is a shill or just drinks the green koolaid. He does seem to get more than his share of slow AMD hardware though.

Back on topic guys.

I played it, its ok so far. Hope for better MGPU scaling on release. I am really looking forward to the campaign and mapsnap though.

Also, I have a friend with a 690 who had a lot of trouble getting to play it. Looks like certain SLI situations are really not working well with it.

Had to do this OT post but I can even find raghu's post where he is praising HWC because AMD was winning that time but no I won't do it, for AMD fans unless they win that bench its a shill site end of story. So just remember that dude 🙂

So you just HAD to make this OT member callout after being warned by a mod directly above your post?

No member callouts. Period.

I don't get why they bother including SLI or Crossfire in the graph at all. Just make a note that multi-gpu solutions all perform equal and/or worse than single GPU's and don't put them in the graphs at all to reduce the clutter (or just have one separate graph demonstrating this). Maybe I'm crazy but the cleaner looking graphs would be preferable I would think.

Pretty dumb to include MGPU for a game that doesn't support it (yet?). Just report it test without it.

Most people probably just look at the graphs and ignore the text so not having it in the charts would be a bad thing for getting the word out.

Is this using Nvidia-killing Async Compute yet, or is that being saved for release?

770 2GB matching 380X 4GB, good showing by GK104!

Must not be in use yet, my rig ran the game beautiful. I can't wait for the full game to release!

I feel a bit old in the sense I remember seeing a friend playing Quake 3 with voodoo 2s in SLI, and here we are, all these years later, and SLI is borked for an Id game. It's a shame to see this - from the perspective of an older, huge Id software fan.

I'm looking forward to both the single player and the online component - I don't care about levelling up, or alternate appearances, or anything like that - so I hope the MP component delivers in the way the trailers show.

All people that made idSoft great have already left a long time ago. Rumor is if DOOM4 doesn't sell, Bethesda will shut down the studio.

Not really a 1 to 1 comparison there. Voodoo SLI is not the same thing as nvidia SLI. Plus, SLI isn't something you can just slap into any engine and have it work perfectly. Some engines just aren't designed in a way that works well with it. And this isn't necessarily due to poor design decisions or lack or skill, it's really just a trade off.

Anyway, is there even an SLI profile for doom yet? Maybe that's all it needs.

Proofs? Maybe hints.

Nvidia September 2014 Media Event.

This is Linus Tech Tips video:

Look at the gifts Nvidia gives them on arrival.
http://youtu.be/S4jckd7J4ko?t=3m32s

the guy from techreport? "Very cool party"
http://youtu.be/S4jckd7J4ko?t=6m57s

LinusTechTips about to have a Limbo competition with Ryan Shrout from PCPer at the Nvidia all paid event
http://youtu.be/S4jckd7J4ko?t=9m57s

And now you see dimitry from HardWare Canucks at the Kayak (of course paid by Nvidia)

After receiving all this, of course I would be a shill to.

You can't be serious if that's the 'proof'.
Just as a generic response and not meant to derail the thread but...

What happens when Politicians receive political donations by large firms?
What happens when the mainstream media receive access to politicians and scoops on stories?
What happens when big media outlets receive advertisement dollars from large firms?

To claim that NVIDIA are the only ones who participate in this is disingenuous. At the same time, to claim that it has no effect on outcomes is also wishful thinking.

Anyhow. Carry on!

Indeed when games developers engaged in these practices with game reviewers gamers were up in arms and lost much of their faith in the credibility of the enthusiast media.
Yet when we see these same sorts of things go on in a field where the products can cost 10 times as much or more,no one bats an eye.

back on topic.I have to agree with the opinions of some other posters
I frankly found the content of this beta to be un-compelling ,I definitely think the strength of this game will lie squarely with it's single player campaign which looks freaking awesome btw.

Well said sir, it works with all companies, some may do it more then others but they're all guilty of it.
