It's understandable to be cynical given the HL2 nonsense we have been subjected to time and time again, but I'm betting this is the real deal and D3 will hit shelves within a month's time. The :clock: is ticking....

I thought the alpha of doom 3 was pretty lame so hopefully it's not any indication of how the final game will be.

Did that reveiw make it seem it like D3 is a lot like System Shock 2 to anybody else?

PDA's with email and door codes etc.

Colleagues turned into zombies running up & down corriders

Searching for airlocks

Teleporting to an entirely different setting (OK, you take the escape pod in SS2)

Since I loved SS2, that's really good news for me. Excitement/antipation level just went up. :)

Me, too. SS2 was a good game!

I'm excited too, however, I am a bit concerned about how my 3GHz P4C (@3.5GHz), and RADEON9500Pro (Warp11 BIOS) will do with it. I know my system is good, but I'm not one that can even go buy a 9800Pro, let alone an X800 just becuase D3 doesn't run well.

If you've played Doom, Doom II, Final Doom, you'll love seeing all the monsters in "True 3D"

Wow, so iD was actually smart enough to outsource the storyline for D3? Cool, it might might actually NOT SUCK then. Good news to me.

Actually, best buy has such a high interest in potential employees that they stopped hiring people under 21. I wanted a summer job there but they turned me down. :p

I was too young, never mind that I know more about electronics than the fools they have working in their TV/videogame/PC departments.

Somehow, I doubt that, at least that the entire corporate-franchised chain has prohibited under-21 hires. Specifically, I would think that they would be the target of an age-discrimination lawsuit from a greedy lawyer faster than you could blink. Aside from the theoretical, I know someone that was a dept. manager at BB locally at 18, and at a different story, I had to speak with a manager once, and I would be very hard-pressed to say that the fellow was any older than 21. I've seen several employees at that store that I think are under 18 even.

They probably turned you down because your knowledge made you overqualified for the job. :p

Actually Doom is the most played game. It is estimated that it was played by 20 million people. Can't quite say that about HL, can you? And isn't 90% of the HL user-base CS-1337-kiddies??? :D

I want to play Doom 3 as much as the next guy but there is no way I am paying $55 to play it. I will wait till it drops to 40.

You are correct sir, I am a cheap bastard :) But I can't see paying more for a PC game than a console game. Usually its the other way around. Doom 3 must be made by people in bizarro world :)

Yeah, you are a cheap bastard. It's possibly going to be one of the greatest games of all time. What is the likelihood of it going down to $40 anytime soon? id games in the past have stayed at MSRP for 3-6 months. What if it doesn't go down in price just like MS FlightSim 2004? That thing stayed at $55 for almost a year. All your friends will be playing it and you will just be by yourself with no Doom 3.

Is that looooonnnngg wait really worth $15?

Bestbuy always drops the price a good 10-15 dollars the week the game comes out or the week after for PC games. I got UT 2004 the DVD special edition for $30. Bestbuy always does this so if I get the game a week after it comes out I think I can contain myself. I can wait a week you impatient bastards :) Broke college student signing off :)

Oh and a quick edit, The Legend of Zelda series is the greatest games of all time so that would have to leave Doom a distant second.
