You have to pay for quality. The Das Keyboard II is supposed to have the best tactile response of any keyboard currently produced.
I'm a programer so having a good keyboard is crucial, however much extra I would have paid versus buying another keyboard(and then dremmeling off the keys  ) is a drop in the bucket considering I'll have this keyboard for years and years.

That's what I don't understand about some of you guys on this board. Nobody minds paying $300 for a video card that will be obsolete in 3 months, but the thought of spending a few extra bucks on a quality peripheral, especially one like a keyboard, mouse or monitor which is how you and your computer interact, just blows the mind.

Or you could've gotten the exact same keyboard for a lot less, ya know the IBM Model "M" keyboard? I'm assuming you got the Das cause it's a clicky keyboard?

But I wanted the blank keys. I was initially looking for a good backlit keyboard for low light use, but then figured what the hell, who needs light if you don't have letters.

BTW backlit keyboards like the saitek do infact not work in low/no light situations, all they do is make it look cool. I found this out when I went to a friends house only to discover the only thing you can see is the blue glow and not the letters. What you'd need is a keyboard with clear keys or clear lettering that has light shining through it.

Thing with the DAS keyboard is even with the lettering scratched off, it's still easy to tell what key it is so having a lit keyboard would STILL help dark or not. Atleast with lit letters you'd know what you're pressing with out having to compare the orientation and relative position to other keys.

2 thin coats of enamel spray paint FTW. 😉

I like it because there is no sales tax shopping online if its from another state!

Unfortunately though, I hear the government is considering a bill that would somehow enforce taxes even on cross-state purchases 🙁

that drink cooler egg is pretty cool
it's kind of a good thing that thinkgeek doesn't ship to canada, because there are just too many cool (and overpriced) toys there
