I disagree vehemently, but will respect your opinion, as it seems to be knowledge-based.Originally posted by: GuitarDaddy

He has CLEARLY had some pretty damn good training in the ancient art of pugilism. CLEARLY.Originally posted by: GuitarDaddy
Why is everybody calling this dude a "Boxer"? Flailer would be more accurate, I admire his courage but his boxing skills suck. In his flurry of punches he doesn't land a single solid blow.Had this guy been a real trained boxer he would have taken about 4 punches and both the perps would have been on the ground unconcious. One solid punch with a bare fist = KO
In the heat of the moment, he showed damn good form, and landed a far higher percentage of his punches than usually happens in a spontaneous street dust-up. Most street fights sans other weapons that I've seen feature FAR more off the mark flailing and usually end up in a lot of clutching and grunting and falling together to the ground.
You, sir, have simply seen too many Hollywood movies.
No, I've seen too many one punch and out street fights. I grew up in a rough neighborhood, half the guys I ran with were Golden Glove boxers, one being three time state champ. And I've spent the last 20yrs reffing Golden Glove matches so I'm fairly qualified to access boxing ability.
I agree the guy did good for an average guy in a random situation, but obviously not a trained fighter.
"Half the guys I ran with were Golden Gloves boxers" does send up a bit of a red flag on my BS meter, though.
What specific neighborhood of what municipality did you grow up in, and when?
Edit:And again, to my eye, that guy showed damn good random street fight form. I say he's spent some time in the gym, being trained. If I had to make a critique at all, I'd say he didn't "close" on each mook fast enough and near enough for his punches to have maximum effect.
But, hey, my REAL point is that it is far too easy to sit back and ciritique his style as a comfy spectator. In the heat of the moment, most of us (and I HAVE seen this on a fair number of occassions over the course of my life) look pretty damn silly and random in a street fight.
