I wouldn't want either as thy shall not steal, but for the dimwit who does it at my home, when I am away (otherwise he wouldn't survive anyways) I would prefer prison if he doesn't go through a fair trial... you know the legal system is messed us in US, remember the judge in PA who convicted juveniles to private prison for money?

And that doesn't mean that long prison stints are fair punishment either. How about giving the criminal a choice, lose some fingers or go to jail? Would that be more acceptable to the bleeding hearts who think criminals should be coddled?
