I'm just curious how dark you people think blacks are. That's my problem with this forum. People can say things like "you cant see black people at night" and people think thats a defensable statement. What your opinion on the subject is and what was said are totally different.

I just don't think thats a reasonable thing to say. Blow off my opinions by saying im "sensitive". Whatever.

Just pointing out how silly it is to say something like that. There is no way you couldn't see someone. If you are driving down a pitch black road, turn on your high beams.

No reason to say that you can't see someone in front of your car.

Ever heard of two wrongs don't make a right? You made the choice to respond to him in a sarcastic manner that you KNEW would inflame what he was trying to say, generate the type of responses you are seeing, and now you are being defensive about it. That is being sensitive.

Again, I have a hard time seeing anyone of color at night when they wear DARK clothing, regardless of the status of my headlights. But to stay on topic, the people who are illegaly jaywalking in the OPs video are wearing bright, visible colors.

Stop derailing the thread and move on.

are you SERIOUSLY trying to say that it is not harder to see dark objects with miminal light, than it is to see light objects with miminal light?

no clue why i'm even bothering but i just can't fathom someone being this dumb.

Look I know you're super duper sensitive about race issues, but this is just a simple fact... If you're black you need to wear bright clothes and maybe flashing lights at night because it's more difficult to see you.

You just went from reasonable to absurd in a matter of seconds. Black people, don't forget your flashing lights when you leave the house; the rest of us need to be able to identify you at a distance. Think of it as pieces of flair.

To her, it is "Racist" to acknowledge that fact.

She's made it clear before, that ANY difference between lighteys and darkeys is racist, period.

I think it's reasonable to be easily seen at night. The fact is, it's more difficult to see black people since they absorb more light.

If wearing bright colors isn't enough to be seen while jaywalking then you should be forced to wear blinking bright lights when illegally sprinting across streets.

Don't take it personal because I wasn't trying to start anything. Why get upset when I mention the color of someone's skin? I really can't see black people in dark clothing at night. Highbeams might make a difference but I never really had a reason to turn them on.

That is a lie. We were having a civil conversation, now you want to be a jerk. And you wonder why we can't be friendly.

Its really hard for you to say negative things about me when you are the one who makes those things up because I don't respond to you how you'd like me to.

Never mind, I keep getting the OP confused with "Cryinmanahan".

I wonder how many posts have been reported in this thread because someone disagrees/doesn't like/is sensitive to someone's comment.

See what I mean?

What's wrong?

I come from a country of shitty teeth...and I have shitty teeth.

Most black people have amazing teeth.

What I said is a combination of a complement and fact that dark colors hide well in the dark and light colors don't/and how they stand out.

NOTHING to do with anything racial.

You are the one saying it's just as easy to see black people at night under the same conditions as white people, "just turn on your headlights"....

Which is a ridiculous statement. It is FAR more difficult to see dark people when it's dark... Just like it's difficult to see white people on a white background.

You do realize that there are differences between races, right? There are lots of traits which are not equal.

There are likely a couple of PMs going around as the race baiters figure out who to railroad.

It's really sad that we can't have any conversation which discusses race without the race baiters losing their minds and ganging up on someone.

It looked to me like the driver hit someone who wasn't jaywalking, but was in a crosswalk. When the person was hit she was walking between two white lines that were perpendicular to the street corner. Even if you walk when the stop sign is lit you still aren't jaywalking.

The driver doesn't help their case when they back up like nothing happened and didn't offer an apology quickly. Of course I would be scared to get out of the car in that neighborhood too and they didn't give her much time before they started banging on her car.

I had to drive through the hood for work for several years. Man am I glad I have a new job since then.

i used to think that, but then i did it in front of some cops . . . it was a one way road with just one lane. .. no cars coming and i was in the lines . . . they chewed me out for walking against the red and said i could get ticketed for jaywalking...

that said this is the urban youth you always hear about. . . if the driver had a baby in the back-seat or something? i doubt i'd have waited around as long as they did . . .

I didn't say it was "just as easy". I assume the original comment I was responding to was made in support of what the woman in the OP and I challenged THAT idea.

If someone is right in front of your car, I don't see a reason why you couldn't have seen them.

If the comment was about someone running out in front of your car, sure, I'd agree because your POV is not on the side of your car trying to find someone running out into the street. There is no light to aid your vision in that direction.

There is really no point to have a discussion with you because you seem keen on the idea that if I don't agree with something someone says, I think they're racist...which is something that I have NEVER said.

False. Keep acting like your ideas are being shut out because of this invisible group of race baiters.

Why not just stop responding to her and comment on how stupid the rabble rousers are in ransacking the drivers car?

Your arguments are ridiculous.

I can't believe that you, a seemingly intelligent (albeit naive) young woman, cannot understand that dark colors reflect less light and thus are more difficult to see at night.

The issue is that dark people are more difficult to see at night, all else being equal. They really need to wear bright/flashing clothing so that the people who drive cars can see them easier.

Really I'm all about equality here.
