Perhaps but imagine being the driver. Even if you don't get charged with something by the police you have to live with it and you will get sued. Even if you win the lawsuit you will still have thousands to spend on lawyers.

I'm pretty sure the video would be great evidence that it wasn't the drivers fault....assuming our law system didn't suck of course.

:\

You should not blame a driver when people run out on the street/or cross the street without looking....or when they shouldn't be.

Simple as that.

In general our conversations on here are civil.

It's healthy to have an open conversation about situations like this.

And FWIW a crowd of thugged out white kids would've probably jumped on the car too.

Stereotypes are around for a reason, it's up to each individual if they alone want to be associated with that crowd. :colbert:

I only see this getting worse in the future as the internet makes it easier for them to congregate and share their idiotic ideas and hobbies. Plus technology/medical field advances make it easy for the dumb/unhealthy to survive and breed (Idiocracy anyone?)

Darwinism is failing us :(.

Shit if I was on a jury I would put that driver at 80% fault. She was going way too fast... You can tell from the braking noise that she was flying.

...because all of us look like oil slicks.

FWIW black people wearing dark clothing at night is a problem here as well.

It has nothing to do with oil slicks or WTFever. You're black (or medium brown, or whatever makes you feel fuzzy inside) and it's dark outside... Common sense says you're difficult to see.

If you watch the lights at the beginning on the video, lights for both directions are red and the cross walk signal is solid the whole time, indicating DO NOT WALK. So there are multiple fails by the 3 pedestrians in the cross walk.

There are 2 cars coming across the intersection in the opposite direction while the light is red, fail.

The other car adjacent to what I have deemed the Judas Priest car have come to a complete stop. So looks like Judas Priest car has been given the red signal and was trying to beat the light as it were.

Multiple fails all around.

I can't say that I wouldn't have backed up a little either, but after seeing people charge my car, I can say I would not have gotten out of my vehicle either. I'd be on the phone with the PoPo ASAP as nothing clears out a bad situation in the hood like 20 PoPos rollin up! :-D

The reaction by the crowd is not surprising, as another poster eluded to however, if it was a crowd of white people, I don't think the reaction would have been any different. Reactionary justice is no bueno.

sounds like someone screaming, not the brakes, although it did sound like she got hit pretty hard.

Cars have lights. There is no reason to not "see" someone in front of your car.

lol why would you respond with that?

All that's gonna do is take a borderline offensive comment and make it worse.

Just pointing out how silly it is to say something like that. There is no way you couldn't see someone. If you are driving down a pitch black road, turn on your high beams.

No reason to say that you can't see someone in front of your car.

To be fair, spatially does have a point, however, with relation to this video that is not a true statement as all 3 jaywalking pedestrians have bright clothing on that should have been very easy to see had the driver been paying attention.

Lights or no lights, black people are more difficult to see at night, all things being equal.

Do we really have to go into discussing how light reflects off of a white person while it's mostly absorbed by a black person?

Look I know you're super duper sensitive about race issues, but this is just a simple fact... If you're black you need to wear bright clothes and maybe flashing lights at night because it's more difficult to see you.

because she is notorious for race baiting, which is exactly what her first post in this thread was.

and she got you all hook, line, and sinker.

I'm just curious how dark you people think blacks are. That's my problem with this forum. People can say things like "you cant see black people at night" and people think thats a defensable statement. What your opinion on the subject is and what was said are totally different.

I just don't think thats a reasonable thing to say. Blow off my opinions by saying im "sensitive". Whatever.

Oh I know that, but I'm essentially calling her on her BS, but in a more polite way than I think she would do for me.

How is my response to the comment any more bs than saying "you can't see black people at night"?

And how is that race baiting?

It is absolutely defensible.

It's not an opinion..... It is a fact that dark colors (IE blackish people) absorb light, making them more difficult to see at night, while light colors (IE whiteish people) reflect light.

I can confidently say that black people are far more difficult to see at night, and it seems like black people tend to wear darker colors which makes it even more difficult to see them.

That woman was driving WAY too fast for an area as crowded as that. I don't care, jaywalking or not, you don't go that fast in a crowded area - period.

And, the way she quickly backed up made me think they were about to make a run for it.

Doesn't at all justify what the crowd did to that car, but I have NO remorse for the idiot driver. And the way she left the scene, hitting another car... Is REALLY lucky she didn't run over someone else.
Link to video where you saw her "driving WAY too fast"?
